I don’t think an extra life monitor will work because they’re already dead, so imjustalittlecreature can have one of my max revives, I suppose. They deserve it for their noble sacrifice to the greater good by protecting Oshi. On a completely unrelated note, I have to go deliver a cookie.
Oshi would say thank you, but he's too busy being overjoyed. <3

My homie, you know why you're here. You're out here leaving me the best comments, giving me a reason to live. xDD /silly
These are actually unrelated to that ask I sent you a bit ago. I'll have to post those doodles some other time (they're buried somewhere). Anyway, I still went a bit all over the place with design ideas. I dunno what it is; your avvie just gives me Ideas. Also, the potential to lean into the corvus aspect and just incorporate feathers and birb feet all over the place. Gherls aside, I also made a dragon and gryphon-ish thing just 'cause.
I love this comic so much. The vibes are immaculate.
I love your depiction of Sonic. One of the big things that separate Sonic and Shadow is that while Shadow has been through “the horrors," things mostly work out for Sonic. So Sonic has been allowed to develop a sort of confidence and optimism that things will just work out in the end. So it’s super interesting to see Sonic forced into a situation where things are well and truly fucked and the only thing left to do is protect what he has left. We get to see his mind sputter and twist as it refuses to accept that he’s actually in the bad timeline this time. It’s all done in a way that’s actually engaging to read because it doesn’t feel like cheap shock value. It feels real and disturbing, and I love it.
Then there’s Shadow. Shadow, who is resigned to the grimness of his current situation in a way that a person can only be if they’ve already lost everything before. It’s an incredible contrast to see Sonic desperately grasping at straws to maintain his happy status quo, even if it’s only in his head, while Shadow is just sitting across from him like, “Well, shit. Here we go again.” It’s made even more interesting by how Shadow is trying his best to get Sonic through this. Since Shadow knows what it’s like to lose a loved one. Sonic doesn’t. At least, not like this.
I also love fanfictions that include Shadow because it provides an opportunity to put him through the emotional ringer in a way you really can’t anymore. Shadow has dealt with his past. So short of bringing Shadow’s past back from the dead, not much can really phase him at this point. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. It’s part of what makes Shadow so cool. But it’s still cool that we can use fan fiction to craft scenarios that are fucked up enough that it manages to break through Shadow’s stoic mask and let the horror of his situation creep onto his facial expressions in a way that’s uniquely Shadow and that we don’t get to see in official media very often. I just think this comic is neat.
All of what you said is an excellent and very thoughtful analysis.
I want you to hold onto these thoughts. Keep them tightly enclosed in a fist held to your heart. Continue to think about it as this story progresses.

How do you think the Restoration operates? Or rather, what kind of society you think the mobians live in?
For example, do you think they’re anarcho-capitalist (the Restoration works like an insurance company)? Anarcho-communist (the Restoration works by people just volunteering to work together for the common good)? Both? Or something else?
How do mayors factor into all of this? Do you think the mobian territories are just a collection of democratic city states?
I think the anarcho-communist label works better, mostly because I really like the idea of Mobians living in a moneyless society. Admittedly, this HC was based on a misunderstanding of the "no money" rule mandated by Sonic Team to comic/game writers, but I think it's more fun to imagine them as just not having any money period. Although, this only works by ignoring huge sections of canon, such as the Chaotix and the fact that the islands appear to have major urban areas, which tend to only exist when a surplus of capital has accumulated in a specific region. Anyways, I hate monetary theory and it has consistently been the least interesting political subject to read/write about, so I'm going to end that here.
Without money, how do you motivate a society to function? How do you end up with an organization like the Restoration? The answer is SOCIAL PRESSURE. Pretty much all values are learned, including the "every man for himself" variety of individualism that makes it hard to convince people to help others for nothing in return. Which means the opposite is possible, too. A functional anarcho-communist society, assuming they are collectivist, would be very good at making its people feel obligated towards helping the community as long as it is within their means. If we assume Mobians live in this type of society, then it would make sense that the Restoration would mostly be run by volunteers, especially if they felt an imperative to help victims of Eggman's schemes. So, in this case, your second explanation fits a bit better.
You can probably consider the islands to have a government/civil organization SIMILAR to democratic city states, although I tend to think they don't have a state at all. Hence where the "social pressure" part of the compulsion to contribute to society comes in.
As for the mayors, I'm not suuuuuper sure. Jewel being the "head" of the Restoration tells me that Mobians aren't entirely allergic to hierarchy, but whether or not Jewel can unilaterally impose her will over others due to her position is yet to be seen (I think). So that one is still up in the air a little for me. A mayor could exist to handle disputes, or more specifically have a specialized role where their job is moreso to see the big picture of the town and make sure everyone is being taken care of.
ty for the question!! sorry if this was a bit rambly, and i hope its a decent enough answer haha
”And with Shadow of all people?” Does Tails not like Shadow?
Tails doesn't know how enemies to friends to lovers works 😔
A more serious answers tho, I don't think Shadow and Tails ever gets a chance to interact much in order to become more than kind of, acquaintances? Sorry I'm a loser and don't read the comics if they've had some adventures there together. But anyway, he would know that Shadow is a good guy (at heart) and hopes that his brother knows what he's doing but also as his brother he has to scrutinize his taste and life choices
I’m a bit confused about what Sage was feeling that made her go from red to blue, then back to red again. Is it her way of visually communicating that she went from business face to lighthearted (with the maximum capacity for egg puns per minute and therapy jokes), and then back to business face again? If so, that’s a really neat way to build off the visual language they used for her in Frontiers. I’d just like some confirmation because I’m sometimes really bad at picking up on these sorts of things.
I like it when people have their own interpretation of things so I don't reaaaally want to confirm or deny this reading of the situation. But I like the idea of her visual appearance being like a mood ring of sorts and can change depending on the situations :) She's a program after all, she can look like whatever since it's just light.
It's a bit of a special situation I've put myself in when Sage has only appeared in one official game and I'm sure her design, colors and glitchyness and things was also affected by cyberspace being Like that™... I don't know if Sega would have her appear in another official meda again and with a "neutral" design (Though there was that one sonic channel art). If one was made in the duration of me making this comic and I like it then maybe I'd work it into the story. But also if not, I can also just say that "In MY comic it works like this".
