🌦️ Sunshine in the Rain~!
A "no powers," primarily slice-of-life au focused around Tails and Kit set in the early 90's. Just two young adults with different outlooks on life, a handful of misunderstandings, but in the end- enough in common between them that they stick together. Maybe they even end up liking each other a whole lot? :D ... Okay, definitely not at first, though...

Kit :: An animal-lover through-and-through, he devotes most of his time to working at the city animal shelter. Between his other job and taking care of his own dog, he has very little time for himself. Though young, he's jaded and consigned himself to a life of constant toil. He doesn't really do labels, but he's totally goth-punk. He bleaches his fur and dyes his hair.
Tails :: A hard-working young man currently putting himself through college while maintaining a job at a tech company. A deep curiosity and interest in technology since childhood drives his passion in life. He is very sweet, optimistic, and wants to be part of the positive change in the world.
Surge :: Kit's suspiciously intelligent "pet dog." She does not like to be talked to "like a dog" and makes eerily appropriate, mobian-like expressions. She's highly aggressive towards anyone other than Kit and Amy.
Amy :: Kit's coworker at the animal shelter. She primarily works with the public (because she's amazing at it), but is equally as skilled with the critters. Her empathy knows no bounds, eventually even wearing down Kit's tough exterior enough that they could become friends.
Prof. Pickle :: A historian from Spagonia currently abroad for research opportunities. He ended up staying longer than intended, taking up a prestigious teaching position. He also happened to take a young Tails, on the cusp of adulthood, under his wing. He helped him get a scholarship and lets him stay at his flat.
Sonic :: Tails' best friend and companion throughout much of his childhood. He's traveling abroad currently and has started to become a bit of a musical sensation. The two are still very close and keep in contact mostly via letters.

Fun Facts:
- Kit thinks Tails' duo tails are dope, but would never tell him
- Tails instantly got a crush on Kit; he thinks his whole vibe is totally baller
- Tails works for a totally reputable, not at all suspicious budding tech company called Robotnik Inc.!
- Kit has no idea where Surge came from, and she wouldn't tell him even if she could. She wishes she could forget that terrible place, and that piece of crap platypus that ran it.
- There might be a number of other suspiciously intelligent "animals" running amok... a spiky, red-striped black cat, for instance...
- Cute af background knuxouge that may very well get its own fic. Knuckles is a buff, but awkward and dorky jeweler. I love him.
