After replaying Sabin’s scenario I started thinking about Cyan and Doma again more.
There’s a line where, right before dying, the king talks about the fact that Cyan knew his father and had been retainer to the king of Doma for that long.
King Doma: CYAN… you have defended the realm since my father’s days… hack, cough… Thank you… it’s over… Our kingdom is through.
I assume two things from this:
1.) the king is young. If I were to guess I’d say about in the 27-30ish range. This would make Cyan 23-20 when he was born, which is definitely old enough to have had a substantial amount of time serving under his father.
2.) Cyan probably has known him since he was a child. This interaction and all of the emotions that it evokes make me think that Cyan viewed the king of Doma as a son to him, as well. I can’t really point to a specific line, but I say this just off of the energy and how personal it all feels. The king is above him class and authority wise, yes, but is still someone he had a significant part in the life of from a very young age.
It’s vague and it’s totally possible this is not the case but if it is I think it makes his dynamic with Sabin even more clear than it already was.
Backing up for a second first to better make this point, we know it’s likely/implied Cyan sees Gau as a son because of Gau being an orphan and it’s safe to assume he’s around Owain’s age. (Cyan being 50 and having a 13-ish year old son, maybe a little older, would make enough sense). So it’s very likely imo that Gau specifically reminds Cyan of Owain to some extent.
Then, I think this same logic can apply to Sabin. Sabin is (former) royalty, probably in the same general age group as the king of Doma, and also has lost his entire family other than Edgar. So I think he likely reminds Cyan of the King of Doma — someone he also saw as a son and recently lost.
Red getting a smack or two from me.
Dude. It’s Caturday. Time to, as your folks said, get off the computer and get outside.
And me? Well, your folks were talking to you. And it is Caturday. And since you’re not going to be on the computer... I might as well be.

Heya! First past the post is the winner-takes-all one, maybe you were thinking instant runoff or mixed-member proportional voting?
Thanks I fixed it. Ranked choice runoff voting. For congress the one above it. The British system doesn't thrill me either since the flaws are apparent with the lack of diversity represented.
I *do* like the idea from the British system a panel of experts in Senate, but not thrilled with it being packed with Lords or rich white (usually men) and I haven't quite figured out how to get past the barring certain types from higher education, which is why I haven't suggested it.
I kinda wish the founding fathers banned celebrities, but I haven't figured a good way to get there, because there are celebrities that did a good job, say Shirley Temple, but I would like them to at least know the basics of government and be able to pass a basic government operations test, not College level, High School level.
How is a bill made. I want to see them actually say how it is made and show they can pass basic civics. The amount of lawmakers who spouted nonsense about what a VP does is astounding.
Either way, the US's democracy is outdated and we can do better.

I apologize, what? I'm not lying. I am a switch, not a fully fledged bottom.
