Rings around Luna Known as coronae, these shiny iridescent rings are due to the diffraction of light around water droplets of similar sizes in the thin veil of wispy cloud in the atmosphere, though dust and aerosols such as pollen can also produce the effect. While they also occur around the sun, seeing them is uncommon, as the intense glare usually drowns them out, rendering them invisible. It is a quantum effect, with each light ray being bent around one droplet, and the different wavelengths in the white reflected solar light being diffracted in varying amounts due to their inherent energy levels. Out of 75 coronae examined, 52 showed signs of these underground forces still at work, hinting that tectonic activity may be more widespread
Circular features known as coronae, on Venus show signs that the planet's surface may still be changing.
New Study Confirms Venus Is Still Geologically Active
Introduction A groundbreaking study published in Science Advances on May 14, 2025, has confirmed that Venus, often called Earthās āsister planet,ā remains geologically active. Despite its harsh surface conditions, new research shows that Venus is still reshaping its crust through dynamic internal processes, much like early Earth. This discovery challenges previous assumptions about the planetāsā¦

Venus, known as the twin of Earth, is considered to be an unusual planet for its circular orbit and its thick cloudy atmosphere. The presence of numerous volcanoes on the planet was a known fact but these were touted to have been dormant for ages.
But a recent studyhas revealed that some of these activities might be not as ancient as we thought.
