I've wanted to make a creativity blog for a while. This will be for songs, poetry, art, and writing. Refer to me as Fig Tree or Fig. Pronouns are xe/xem.

The other countries whispered. 

“Wow, [Core] really chose [Periphery], out of all the peripheries out there.. that one??”

“well why not!? I’m more surprised that [Periphery] was foolish enough to get swept up by [Core]’s imperialist drama.”

“Really, [Semiperiphery], don’t be so jaded. We were all once like [Periphery]. Young, with a quickly growing population, struggling to ease the strain on our resources… It makes sense. ”

“I disagree with all of you. What wouldn’t I give to be the one [Core] chose! Those slowly growth population pyramids~~~ Those headquarters of the globalized businesses I see everywhere~~~ And don’t even get me started on that economical activity~. [Core] can colonize me anytime” Swooned [Periphery2].

“Are you really this shortsighted?” A horrified voice cried, grabbing [Periphery2] by the shoulders. “[Core] is going to tear apart poor [Periphery]! They’re going to ruin them! Listen, being colonized by countries like [Core] leaves a lasting impact. [Periphery]’s going to have to depend on [Core] for infrastructure and more after they realize how toxic they are. [Periphery2], I beg you not to let this romanticization of [Core] go to your head.”

[Periphery2]’s gaze softened. “Alright, [Periphery3]. I know you fight so hard to not let core countries colonize you, and i think i will join you in that. Alliance?” They tenderly whispered, caressing [Periphery3]’s cheek.. 

“I agree with [Periphery3]. [Core] is just using them for cheap labour, farming, mining, fishing, and especially agriculture. It’s only a matter of time before [Periphery] gets screwed over.”

Meanwhile, [Periphery] was blissfully unaware, their ears not red with the weight of others’ opinions. As much as they didn’t want to admit it, even just seeing [Core]’s supply ships on the horizon was enough to set their heart and people aflutter. [Periphery] could barely think about what would happen when [Core] breached their shores. 

Soon…. they saw each other again. 

“Excuse me, just passing through to get to the trading port” [Core]’s broad shoulders brushed past [Periphery]’s small frame, and both their bodies tensed at the electricity. 

“[C-C-C-Core],” stuttered [Periphery], struggling to keep their voice steady. “I am.-- I am surprised to see you here.-- You look– You look awfully–” [Periphery] swallowed. “developed, [Core]. It suits you”

[Periphery] gazed up at [Core]. It was unfair how stunningly handsome [Core] looked in the sunlight, their promotion of money accumulation highlighted by their tight clothing. 

“[Periphery]... you look good. It seems that there’s….” [Core] snuck a hand around [Periphery]’s waist, drawing them closer, “a lot of workers i can pay less for more labour…” 

[Core] leaned down even further, to provide the breeze of a sultry whisper. “I can’t wait to exploit that~”

[Periphery] tensed, doing all they could not to lean into [Core]’s words. 

“I can’t wait for the colonization, [Core].” [Periphery] finally braved a glance into [Core]’s intense orbs, both burning with dark desire.

“Good. You have a fun surprise in store. It will change your culture, language, toponyms, economy, politics, and more. Being with me will change everything, I can promise you that.” [Core] smoldered darkly at [Periphery], and walked away.

"b-but.... I'm just a lonely little Periphery....." whimpered [Periphery] "who could ever love me. I'm too weak and... a high... uwu.... agricultural density and percentage of women in agriculture...."

"Shhhh." Growled [Core]. "I'm a Core. I'll take care of you.."

[Core] tilted [Periphery]'s chin up to look into their shining orbs. "As long as you... submit to me."

"I'll give you anything." Breathed [Periphery] softly.

"Anything?" [Core]'s eyes darkened with the desire to achieve high mass consumption. "You'll be good for me, then."

"Yes! Yes I will, I'll give you cheap labour, cheap raw resources. I'll spoil you with everything I have. You'll never want for anything ever again." [Periphery] drew themselves up to their full height, light blue orbs blazing as they looked into the core of [Core]'s soul. "Do you want to be spoiled, [Core]?"

"More than anything." Replied [Core] with a smirk. "You have no idea what you're in for. I'll dominate you."

[Core] leaned forward to whisper into [Periphery]'s ear.

"Economically..." [Core] purred. [Periphery]'s muscles tensed as they let out a shaky breath. "and politically."
