His hat has been pulled so far down over his face that getting a hint of his expression would be impossible but the way his shoulders hunch and his hands dig into the plush top of his hat shows enough of his distress. When Corazon just sort of appeared out of the blue Law had done everything to deny him, even slamming the door of the Polar Tang in his face. Not the best way to greet the man you owe your life to, especially not after thinking he was dead for thirteen years but there is so much more to this. Everything he has done, the reason he’s lived this long, his sole purpose. All of it coming into question just because this one man is alive.
He isn’t even sure he has any right to face Corazon. He carries the heart he gave him, has it tattooed on his chest and named his crew after it, but he still can’t consider himself a good person. Can he really be proud of what Law has become?
“Damn it!” he snarls, voice muffled by the arms that cover his head. He sits at his desk, back to his benefactor. He is silent for a second longer and then a question slips free, the sound of it on his lips near agonising. “Why now? Why are you here now and not ... Why didn’t you try to find me?”
