Vans has put out a really amazing collection for Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I'm super excited about it for a few reasons:
They are giving a MINIMUM of 200k to charity not a maximum!
Nothing is pink! Everything is in skin tone shades, and a wide variety thereof.
It features body diverse art, including art of people who have had mastectomies.
It's working with a non Susan G. Komen charity, one that helps young people learn about early detection and to advocate for themselves with medical professionals.
Almost all of the language around the campaign, and from the charity (which is called CoppaFeel!) is gender neutral and acknowledges that breast cancer affects more than just cis women. "CoppaFeel! exists to stamp out the late detection of breast cancer by educating everyone - girls, boys and non-binary pals about their boobs and encourage them to get anything abnormal checked out"
Anyway, I've already bought a pair of the high-tops, and I encourage you to go check out the collection and to read about the charity and the artistic choices behind the line. I know Vans are pricey, but even if you can't, or don't want to buy anything, it's worth checking out the work they put in.

IT is almost nine years to the day that I had the rather ambitious idea to start a campaign that would reach young people and educate them to check their boobs.
I had spoken to a few knowledgeable people in the breast cancer world and my next step was to invite some friends over, with my sisters, and get their thoughts on my idea.

I recently stumbled upon this breast cancer awareness charity started by Kris Hallenga. It is well worth your time to check out the website and see the amazing work they are doing. Breast exams are important and if you aren't doing them yet this is a good time to educate yourself how and to start.
A motto at CoppaFeel that was developed is ‘You can’t polish a turd. But you can roll it in glitter.’ I think this is a saying that we can all relate to. Life throws some devastating curve-balls at us from time to time, but as a result we get to do some really cool things because of it.
For me personally, this is how I feel about my diagnosis of herpes. I would never compare my skin condition to a disease like cancer, but I think I can definitely relate to going through a really hard experience, but in the end being kind of thankful because it has allowed me to see myself in a better light, see others in a better light, and just overall become more confident.
So please go to this website, educate yourself, empower yourself, and go help others
