So obviously i would never encourage piracy.
But I might note, that every film streaming service I've used - including the paid ones, not just the ones that play ads - will not allow you to take a screenshot. The screen goes black whenever any screen recording or individual screenshot is attempted.
Now, I can understand preventing screen recording. This would be a semi-easy way to replicate a film in full, and that could significantly undermine the streaming service's primary revenue stream.
But I am currently working on a presentation, for school. Which requires screenshots of the films I am referencing. And I can't get those screenshots on streaming services! While I can find some clips on YouTube and pull from there, I can't find them all (not to mention the extra time investment when I should just be able to navigate to a timestamp that I already recorded for citation purposes).
Can you think of another way to watch a movie that you've already paid to view on a streaming service, but will allow you to take a screenshot?
I can.
new life experience unlocked called "calling campus security on a guy who insists that the library hours do not apply to him, and he does not need to pause his study session long enough to go home or move to the reading room which is open 24 hours, and will in fact get pissy when i imply as such and will continue to sit there at his desk on the main floor as i turn out the lights in the building and leave him sitting in the dark"
writing my check-ins to my fwt supervisor like i'm writing to princess celestia

Did today really start this morning? It feels like it's been so long
genuine question - what the fuck is up with MLA? why is it so popular? double-spacing is really not pretty, and parenthetical citations break the flow of reading (whereas a footnote citation can fulfill the same purpose while being far less distracting). p
fuck it i'm writing this instead of my essay
isn't it fucked up how writer's block isn't acceptable when it comes to homework?
like yeah i know i get that it's important to learn to complete work on a schedule cause you need that for a job in the real world. i get that.
but like.
i've been staring at my notes for this essay for hours today, and i haven't been able to cohere them into anything. i would have given up for the day if it weren't for the fact that it's ten pages due in two days. this is my final and i can't just abandon it.
i don't know. it's frustrating. even in a college environment, where professors are (at least in my experience) more forgiving than high school teachers, it feels like there's so little lenience for when mental health causes a struggle.
i took two extra credits and the most advanced classes i've ever taken simultaneously this term, and i started the early graduation process. i've felt like i'm drowning in work despite what should have been barely any extra workload - a single extra essay and the barest bones of my senior work.
maybe i'm expecting too much from myself? i'm usually pretty good at school, all things considered, but for most of this term i've felt overwhelmed and exhausted.
