Aren't you guys kinda hypocrites? I mean you say conversion and participating in Jewish events when invited and given consent isn't appropriation but then you turn around and yell "YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR ALL JEWS, IF SOME JEWS FEEL OPPRESSED THEN WE'RE OPPRESSED!!!111" So if I a Jew, am giving my consent and say that I don't think its a big deal if gentiles do stuff like get Hebrew tattoos why are you erasing my voice and my consent if that's what really counts?
Oookay, so.You can’t consent on behalf of other Jews.For instance, victims of rape. Many of them are sensitive to rape jokes, for obvious reasons. Some victims are not sensitive to rape jokes- but since these jokes are harmful and triggering to those who are upset by them, the survivors who aren’t bothered can’t give people permission to make them. Likewise, while your experiences may not have led those things to offend you, they do offend and harm others… so you shouldn’t /want/ to help perpetuate harm on Jews who find those things oppressive or triggering or etc. Alternately, look at it like co-owning a business. If you’re on the board with 3 other people, you can’t just go “Oh, by the way guys, I decided I’m okay with selling the business, so I sold it”. Unless everyone consents, you can’t do it.Inviting someone to participate in a Jewish-run holiday celeration is certainly different than putting a permanent tattoo of something Jewish on one’s body. One is temporarily, with permission, entering another’s space in a respectful fashion. The other is a whole ‘nother story. Some things you can invite goyim to, others woul harm Jews to invite them to do things so you can’t. Hope this clears things up for you.*Also, I don’t understand how anyone can see conversion as appropriation. Converts BECOME Jews, they don’t just take Jewish things and walk off with them back to their own cultures/people.*
