Contemporary Maple Mantel Clock with Blue Jay Tile
About the Contemporary Maple Mantel Clock with Blue Jay Tile
A masterful marriage of intricate woodwork and ceramic art! Handcrafted by the Schlabaugh Family of Iowa, the contemporary clock body consists of solid, natural hard maple wood. The wood is inset with a clay tile featuring an enticing blue jay depiction by mid-century modernist artist Charley Harper, known for his stylized interpretation of nature. Measuring 4x8 (3.5" x 7.5" visible), the distinctive poppy tile is handmade in Michigan using traditional tile-making techniques. Ideal for a shelf, tabletop, or mantel, the clock stands 16.25-inches high with a glass face and quartz movement.
Wood details: Each clock is constructed of all-natural hand-polished hardwoods and provided a clear, durable finish to enhance the natural colors of the wood. Stains are not used. Natural cherry wood is native to North America and is a very light (almost maple-like) color when new. Cherry will naturally darken with age to reveal a reddish-brown tint.
