I love this scene so fucking much because... well, just imagine you’re Constance. You’ve kind of been through hell and back in the past year. Some hot country twink moves into your house, you start an affair with him, your douche canoe husband breaks up the affair, you get kidnapped, you try to patch things up with your ex lover and now you’re back living with said douche canoe after he manipulated you. And then he gets summoned to the palace and you’re thinking “yeah whatever let’s just hurry this up so I can get back to my sexy daydreams”.

But then, oh but then, the most radiant and beautiful woman you have ever seen in your life walks in, and this also just so happens to be the Queen of fucking France who also just gave birth like two hours ago and still looks like a goddess. And she walks up to you and basically says “hey girl what’s up, I’m so glad you’re here” and you’re like “who? me” and then your Douche Canoe husband opens his mouth and she annihilates him before continuing and basically asking “hey so do you want a cool new job being my best friend and you get to hang out with me all the time and also live in this swanky big palace?”. And if that’s not enough you’re also coming to the realisation that you are probably not straight. And she asks “oh you do want to come right” and you’re standing there with literal hearts for eyes and ofc you say “yes”. So you just got a fancy new job, a much better living arrangement, a new bff and just then realised you’re into girls.

Jacques would never have approved.

But Jacques was dead with the first wave.

It took a year to gather the courage but Constance signed her name onto the program and didn’t look back.

d’Artagnan was charming and boyish; he made her laugh where she’d forgotten.

Athos was broodish and hard to crack; he understood her solemn promise to protect.

Aramis was flirty and got under her skin; he always knew when she needed  a compliment.

Porthos was loud and protective; he got the struggle of building a name for yourself.

None of them matched with her.

Anne came in not as a program attendee but the Senator’s daughter.

Her pale eyes swept over the recruits and stopped on Constance.

And then she walked away.
