From @usfws (US Fish & Wildlife Services) Website: After nearly disappearing from most of the United States decades ago, the bald eagle is now flourishing across the nation and no longer needs the protection of the Endangered Species Act. The two main factors that led to the recovery of the bald eagle were the banning of the pesticide DDT and habitat protection afforded by the Endangered Species Act for nesting sites and important feeding and roost sites. This recovery could not have been accomplished without the support and cooperation of many private and public landowners. They were released on to our protected Lesio Louna reserve and now have 37 acres of natural habitat to explore. Did you know that in 2012 our Javan Primate centre carried out its first release of rehabilitated wild-born langurs; a group of 13. At the time, our extensive population surveys suggested the number in the wild might be as low as 2,700. The first Javan langurs to leave our parks to make the journey home were a group of six in 2013.
