Urza seems more like an Antihero, not a villain.
There's a fine argument for antihero.
Spellmorph
I’ve experimented around a bit before with putting morph on instants and sorceries, but it always ended up a bit clunky. After playing around a bit, I realised making a whole new mechanic was easier and cleaner. Note that for your opponent, when this is face down, they won’t be able to tell if it’s a morph, megamorph or spellmorph card.
You seem so sure that Vanilla Matters on a big scale can't be done, but you guys are creative. There's ways you guys can do it. I've seen some very inginuitive ways to do a Vanilla Matters theme on a reasonable scale in the custom card design community, and if they can find ways i'm sure you guys can find even better ways if you put time into it :)
I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm saying its potential to make a fun play environment is far lower than lots and lots of other ideas we have.
"True vanilla-ness is not a grantable state" Technically, doesn't using something to remove all abilities from a creature make that creature vanilla?
It gets fuzzy because there is text that isn't always cleared. "This card is blue" as an example.

What about cards that give you the choice of making them vanilla?
What exactly does that mean? Them having text that did something negates that from being true. Also vanilla-ness is not really a grantable state.
Something to hate on tokens and the like.
A sorta pushed card for some sort of instant and sorcery deck. Not sure if this lends more towards agro or control.
