i live inside a metaphorical turtle shell itâs beautifulâgilded, polished people tell me itâs lovely; they admire me when my head is pulled in. but when i stick my head out the story changes their expression goes from admiration to pity pity and horror at the bleak reality of my true self i hate it. i hate their concerned eyes, their well-meaning glances and so i keep my head in stay safe inside my beautiful turtle shell let the outside world wonder at it while i drown in its crushing darkness.
