Multifandom Preference: Reader being depressed because theyâre not good at their job and have to pursue another career
Billy & Stu
They know how much hope you set into this job, hoping that this would be the thing you would flourish and become accomplished in. When they see how you gradually loose hope in yourself they will exchange looks and try to comfort you, not pushing you into pursuing it further if you feel like you canât turn this around again. Stu will comfort and distract you, trying to lift your moods by mentioning here and there were your strengths are while Billy looks into jobs that might interest you so you donât feel too lost and can direct your focus on something new instead of going out there feeling empty handed.
Anton Chigurh
He might not be the most empathetic person but he does notice your change in mood, and how you barely talk about work anymore. He comes to conclusions by observing rather than asking due to his taciturn nature, so he starts picking you up from work with his car every day. Once you start opening up to him about your struggles and about how you think you have to change jobs he changes lanes, taking you to your place and telling you to get your stuff. Anton will take you away for a few days so you have time to get a clear head without all the pressure- society guilts you into tying yourself to a career but he has your back to quit and start what and wherever you want.
Ed Warren
He knows how frustrating it is not to fit into societies expectations, how hard it is to fit into a normal job. He will pick up on your gradually worse mood instantly, sitting you down with an arm around your shoulders to ask what is wrong. When you tell him about your struggles and how you feel like a failure he will pull you into his arms and kiss your head, quietly comforting you until youâve calmed down. Ed will encourage you to do what you feel passionate about no matter what that might entail- he offers to support you if you take more time finding your new career and will look into new jobs with you.
Bo Sinclair
Heâs very indifferent about jobs and career stuff, to him itâs just what you gotta do to earn money. But when he sees how sad it makes you that this job isnât working out he will start to understand that you want something fulfilling. He canât really relate to it and might say something insensitive at first, but will choose his words more carefully after. Bo isnât good at comfort, so heâll ask Lester to get him the Newspapers from the city to look through the job offers. Heâll quietly hand you these, mentioning how he thinks you would be good in certain areas and offering to drive you to job opportunities.

Pairing: ConjuringUniverse!Family!Ed and Lorraine Warren x 12yo!Catholic!Reader
Fandom: The Conjuring Universe
Summary: You now have to face the demon from your past. Ed and Lorraine do what they can to help you. Will it be enough?
Warnings: **SCARY GIF**, strong Catholic plot points, a lot of puke, puking weirdly, demons, demon fight, suffocation, depiction of you being possessed, church burned down
Part 1Â Part 2Â Part 3Â Part 4Â Part 5
*******
It was night again before you knew it. The plan that Ed and Lorraine had would begin soon. You sat in one of the pews and prayed.
Your foster family brought you to church every Sunday, but you never took it too seriously. But you thought youâd be stupid if you didnât believe in all of that stuff by then.
Apparently, you were praying very excitedly. As in, you were praying like your life depended on it (which it probably did).
Lorraine came to sit next to you. âYou donât pray often, do you?â she guessed. She didnât need any clairvoyance to know the answer.
  You shook your head.
She smiled, âWell technically, you can pray however you want, but you donât have to pray with that much distress in order for it to work. How about we calm down a bit?â Mrs. Warren folded her hands in preparation for prayer.
To mirror her, you straightened up in your seat.
Lorraine tried her best to hide the grin that came to her from the sight of you copying her. âWhat would you like to say?â
âI donât know,â you honestly responded, âI was sort of just saying whatever came to mind.â
She chuckled, âHow about we start with a prayer that already has words to it?â
  You nodded.
Together, you and Lorraine Warren recited âOur Father.â
After the two of you finished, Lorraine continued, âGod, we thank you for looking after us and those which we love. During this next few trying hours, we ask you to watch over us, and to help us along the way...And as always, I ask you to watch over Judy while Ed and I are away. Amen.â
âWhoâs Judy?â you asked as you named the Holy Trinity in your head.
Lorraine happily answered, âSheâs our daughter. Our girlâs 10 years old. Almost as old as you.â
âWhere is she now?â you questioned.
Mrs. Warren looked as if she was in her memories, remembering the last time she and her husband were with their daughter. âSheâs back home in Connecticut with her babysitter.â
âThatâs good,â you commented, âIâm glad she has someone with her.â
She wistfully agreed, âIâm glad, too.â
Then, Ed entered the nave to inform, âLorraine, weâre ready to get started. Are you ready, Y/n?â
Looking to Lorraine for that encouraging smile she seemed to always have, you nodded.
Slowly, you made your way to the front door of the church. Another deep breath, and you took a step outside.
âOkay, Iâm ready,â you called out, âI want to join you.â
  There was no response.
âShow yourself!â you shouted to the air.
Wind started picking up. Your hair blew back with it. Quickly, the wind began moving so much you had to shut your eyes.
Then, it stopped. The wind stopped so abruptly that you almost fell down the cement stairs outside of the church.
Opening your eyes, you saw a figure crouching in the shadows. It obviously wasnât human. You could tell by certain features and the position it was in.
âWhatâs your name?â Your voice shook as you spoke.
Instead of speaking with its voice, the figure used its telepathic connection with you to communicate. âLook at you. Youâve grown into a very powerful being. I knew I did well by bringing you into existence.â
   âWhatâs your name?â you repeated.
Still, it didnât give you an answer. âMy name isnât important. Itâs you who weâre talking about, Y/n.â
Hearing it sound your name caused a chill to run down your spine.
It continued, âI know you donât really want to join me, Y/n.â It started to crawl closer to you. âNow, tell me. What was the real reason you called me out to a church at midnight. Would it possibly have something to do with these new Warren friends of yours?â
Just then, Ed stepped out from behind some bushes with Lorraine at his back. Ed started reciting a chant in Latin that was supposed to keep the demon from getting away.
Surprisingly, the demon leaped 20 yards to you. It tackled you to the ground, and tried throwing up in your mouth. Ed and Lorraine had told you that that was how demons possessed people. Somehow, you managed to close your mouth before any of the gunk could enter you.
The demon, now on top of you, was terrifying. It wouldnât stop screaming, and it kept moving around in a completely inhuman manner. You fought the thing for a few moments, and eventually pulled yourself into the church using your telekinetic abilities. The demon rode on top of you until you crossed the threshold. Then, it was slammed into what looked like an invisible wall. You immediately got to your feet and watched as the demon threw its almost-fists against the wall in an attempt to get to you.
After a few seconds, it just growled at you. Then, it threw its head in the direction of Ed and Lorraine. It jumped out of your view and went after them. You heard Lorraine scream.
Of course, your first instinct was to run after them. Just as you got to the threshold, however, you were pulled back. It was Father Perez.
He cautioned, âDonât. Itâs angry now. If you go out there, it probably wonât let you back in.â
Barely thinking about it, you moved the priestâs hand from your shoulder and ran outside.
Around the back of the building, you found the Warrens and the demon. Lorraine seemed to have been knocked out since she was laying, unconscious, some distance away. Ed, on the other hand, was trapped under the demon. You could see the demon opening its mouth, and you could tell that it was to throw up.
You reached out with your hand and used your powers to stop the throw-up midair. You threw the gunk out of the way, pushed the demon off of Ed and onto the ground, and you held it there.
This demon was a lot stronger than the first one you fought. This one fought back. You were knocked about fifteen feet back and you hit your head on the ground. Luckily, it was just grass, so it didnât hurt too much.
Daddy Dearest (more like Daddy Demon) started chasing after you. You got back around to the front of the church, but when you turned the corner, the demon surprised you. Suddenly, your vision started blacking out, and your throat was closing up.
After some time of that, you felt like you were finished. All of your fighting wasnât doing anything, so you thought about giving up. What would death be like ? Would you go to heaven, or hell?
No, you thought. You had one more trick up your sleeve.
âAre you there, God? Itâs me, Y/n,â you silently prayed. âI donât know if youâre on my side because of my demon dad, but by any chance, could you help me out? I donât know...maybe give me a sign or something? If it wasnât already obvious, I donât really consider this thing to be my father. Actually, if anything, the Warrens have been more a family to me than anyone ever has before. Honestly, I donât know what I wouldâve done if I did meet the Warrens. Wait...is there any chance that they are the sign? I know it seems far fetched, but thatâs usually how you work, right?...Okay, okay. I can do this. Um...wish me luck?â
With new determination, you took deep breaths (well, as deep as you could manage with your throat being squeezed shut), and started to center your power to your core. You thought about Ed and Lorraine, and how they had looked after you in the previous couple days. You thought about God, and how he might just have your back.
Then, you started fighting again. It felt like you were fighting against a heavy fog that was trying to suffocate you. The longer you fought it, the more tangible it became. That scared you, but you never stopped fighting.
Eventually, it felt like you slipped out from under it. Your next memory was puking upwards and back into the demonâs mouth. Because of the demonâs surprise at your sudden action, you were able to push it off of you. You ran toward the doors of the church.
You felt the demon coming after you, so you abruptly turned and pushed it back with your abilities. Call it adrenaline but by then it was a lot easier to use your powers against the demon. However, the demon would not give up that easily.
Every time it took a step closer to you, you took a step back. Suddenly the demon got a surge of energy, causing it to lunge several more steps towards you. You took as many backward steps as you could in that short period of time.
Unlucky for the demon, those few final steps brought you over the churchâs threshold. The demon accidentally followed you into the holy building. When the demon willingly stepped over the threshold, it caught fire, and started to burn up. Within a few seconds, it was completely gone. You had defeated the thing that had created you.
From behind you, Father Perez gasped, âHeavenly Father...you did it. You did it!â he then exclaimed out of sheer happiness.
The Warrens then appeared and stepped over the threshold of the church. They went to hug you.
When you saw Lorraine, you immediately asked her, âAre you okay? Did you hurt your head?â
She shook her head appreciatively. âNo, Iâm fine. It just overwhelmed my senses. Iâm alright.â
Ed chuckled, âAnd itâs us who should be worried about you. Are you hurt? Did that thing hurt you?â
âWell...yeah,â you shrugged, âI was fighting a demon.â
The married couple shared a look.
Mrs. Warren regretfully informed you, âY/n, we saw you get possessed.â
âThatâs what that was?â Your eyes widened, but more out of surprise than terror.
Ed Warren wondered, âNo one has ever been able to stop themselves from being possessed. How did you fight it? How did you win?â
âI guess God was on my side,â you smiled at Lorraine.
  She smiled back.
***
After that, Father Perez, the Warrens, and yourself were confused about what to do with you. You were half demon, after all.
Father Perez offered to take you in, but so did the Warrens. Eventually you all decided that you would go live with Ed, Lorraine, and their daughter. This was because the Warrens felt they would be able to take care of you and keep your abilities a secret while also providing you with a sense of a normal family. Lorraine was also the best suited for teaching you about how to explore your abilities. Father Perez cheerfully agreed, as he saw and understood the bond you shared with the Warrens.
A few days after the incident, Father Perez got word of Father Christopherâs church. It had in fact burned down, and there were no survivors. Apparently, since the church was no longer holy ground, your demon father mustâve gotten in. It mustâve been pissed, so it burned down the church in retaliation.
If nothing else, this would mean your powers would be kept a secret.
To make the living situation with the Warrens actually happen, a lot of other things needed to happen first. You had to go back to your foster home, as well as pass you absence off as you running away, for two examples. You also had to wait for the commotion from social services to die down (because that was bound to happen with a report coming in of a child running away). Once all that was over, the Warrens would come for you.
They adopted you six months later.
Suddenly, you had a mom, a dad, and a younger sister. Somehow, that was scarier to you than fighting that demon. You didnât know how to act around them for a long time.
Things got easier with time. You learned how to control your powers, and you got closer with all three of the Warrens. Finally, you felt like you were part of something--a family.

*******
The whispers stopped. A flash of lightning ripped through the air as you broke out of what seemed to be a trance. You had no idea where you were. It was raining, and you were drenched.
Before you could even get your bearings, a couple came running out of a secluded house. It was the only structure around for miles. The man and woman came running up to you. They were obviously concerned about you being there.
âGo! Get out of here!â the man yelled out to you first.
When the two finally got to you, the woman took hold of your shoulders. âDarling! What are you doing out here? It isnât safe!â
Just then, all of the windows of the house blew out. The couple stood in front of you, ordering you to stay behind them.
However, you felt yourself walking toward the house instead. The whispers started up again. You also heard the man yelling after you, but you also heard the woman stop him from chasing after you.
Next thing you knew, you were in the house. Everything was in and out of focus after that. The only thing that stayed constant was how loud the whispers were. You saw you were fighting something without touching it. It didnât register in you at the time how extraordinary that was.
When you woke up, you were laying in the destruction of the house. The couple were with you. They kept asking if you were okay.
Deciding to start with the easier questions, you first asked, âWho are you?â
The man answered, âIâm Ed, and this is my wife, Lorraine.â
Lorraine then inquired, âWhatâs your name?â
Once you gave that, you struggled with what to say next. âI...how...â you were still very disconcerted from whatever had just happened.
Before you could pass out again, Lorraine asked more questions. âWhereâd you come from, baby? Where are your parents?â
âFoster family...Hammerfords...I donât...know...â You tried to say more, but you were so tired. You felt as if you were melting into the ground.
The next time you were conscious, you felt that you were in the back of a car. You were too tired to open your eyes then. While you laid there, you heard Ed and Lorraine talking.
âIâve never felt anything like it, Ed,â Lorraine explained with a disbelieving tone in her voice. âI didnât notice it at first because of the demon, but once that was gone...they overpowered all of my senses. Ed...I canât even tell if theyâre good or evil.â
Ed sounded confused as you were scared. âEvil? But they seem human.â
âI know,â Lorraine agreed, âBut they walked in there and cast that thing back into hell within five minutes. Honestly, I feel something demonic coming from.â
Your eyes snapped open as Ed asked, âAre they safe to have with us?â
She was silent for a moment before responding, âI think so. I do feel something inhuman coming from them, but something else tells me that they donât want to hurt anyone. I know that thereâs a mixture in them. I just donât know which one thereâs more of: good or evil.â
   âAre you guys kidnapping me?â
The couple was alarmed that you were awake already.
Ed answered bluntly, âNo, weâre not kidnapping you.â
Lorraine continued for her husband, âWeâre just taking you to visit a church. We have friends there who can help you.â
âHelp me? What do I need help with?â
  They both went quiet.
Ed asked, âY/n, what do you remember?â
You told them the truth, that most of it was very foggy. Then, you realized what they were talking about. You fight that...thing. Understandably, you started to freak out.
Ed and Lorraine tried their best to calm you back down.
Lorraine tried to relate with you. âY/n sweetie, you have to breathe. I know how you feel. I, too, have a gift.â
âCan your gift hurt people?â You guessed the correct answer.
Ed jumped in, âYouâre not going to hurt anyone. Just breathe. The church can help. Weâll be there in a few minutes. Just breathe.â

When the three of you got to the church, it was still dark and raining. Lorraine and Ed led you inside.
âAnd who would this be?â a priest put on the usual tone an adult had when meeting a new kid while he approached you.
Once Ed and Lorraine introduced you and Father Christopher, Lorraine went to speak to the priest privately while Ed waited with you in a couple of chairs out in the hallway.
The demonologist gently inquired, âSo Y/n, have you had any previous experiences similar to tonight?â
A round of thunder boomed through the air.
â...I donât know,â you hesitantly responded, âNothing like that has ever happened to me...but...I always felt different from everyone else. Itâs hard to explain. I just never felt entirely...â You trailed off. Maybe it was because you didnât know the precise word, or maybe it was because you were scared of it.
Thankfully or not, Ed finished for you. âHuman?â
All you could do was nod.
Suddenly, everything was happening a lot faster. Too fast. The door was opened, and you and Ed saw Lorraine struggling against two men holding her arms. Ed launched to his feet and began shouting for Lorraine to be let go. Father Christopher walked out of the room. He started chanting something in a language you didnât recognize. For some reason, you started to feel very weak. Father Christopher dragged you away from Ed. You barely registered Ed being hesitant about going after you or Lorraine, then him choosing you.
When you next woke up, it felt like you were on fire. You couldnât breathe. The only thing you could think of doing was begging for whatever was happening to stop.
Then, you were pulled from the fire. It was Ed. He had you in his arms and he was running from Father Christopher. Ed hid you in a spot in the nearby woods before going back for Lorraine. He told you not to move, and you were too weak to try otherwise.
Ed was gone for a while. During the time that you were alone, you listened to the quiet sounds of the forest. It was then that you heard the all-too-familiar whispers. They were saying that they missed you and that they couldnât wait to see you. The sound sent a chill down your spine and made you feel unsafe.
Lorraine appeared and led you to where Ed was with the car. Soon, you were being driven away from where you almost died.
You peered out the back window and saw the church burning down.

Pairing: Conjuring!Family!Ed and Lorraine Warren x Child!Reader
Summary: Ed and Lorraine take you to another church. Hopefully this one will be more friendly than the last...
Warnings: Talk of demons, slight mention of church on fire, scared kid
Part 1Â Part 2Â Part 3Â Part 4Â Part 5
*******
For clear reasons, you didnât want to get out of the car. The Warrens had taken you to another church. The new one was in Santa Monica, about 10 miles away from your foster home.
The Warrens had explained to you why they thought the next priest would be different. The church organization as a whole had never dealt with someone like you before. Part of Father Christopherâs job was to protect, and he saw you as a threat to that which he was protecting. Ed and Lorraine promised you that the priest in Santa Monica, Father Perez, would not jump to violence nearly as quickly as Father Christopher. However, you still did not want to get out of the car.
In an attempt to convince you, Ed crouched down next to the car. âY/n, listen. At least one of us, if not both myself and Lorraine will be at your side. We wonât let anyone hurt you. If anything happens, weâll get you out of there. Please, Father Perez might be able to help.â
For a few moments, you glanced between Ed and Lorraine. You were looking for any sign of betrayal, but you couldnât find any. Finally, you got out of the car.
When you got up to the front doors of the church, you stopped. The whispering you had heard your whole life was back. It was louder than it had ever been before. The whispering was telling you not to go into the the church. Strangely, there was not whispering when you were entering the previous church.
Ed and Lorraine noticed your pause. Lorraine knelt down and asked you if anything was wrong.
Of course, you told them everything.
The couple were alarmed. Ed crouched down to Lorraineâs level. Lorraine explained, âSweetheart, thatâs probably your biological father talking to you.â
   âThe demon?â you breathed.
She nodded, âChurches are supposed to be safe places. The demon most likely doesnât want you to go in here because then it canât get to you. You probably didnât hear the voices outside of Father Christopherâs church because the demon knew what Father Christopher would try to do to you, which would make the church hallowed ground no longer. When Father Christopher didnât succeed, the demon must have burnt down the church in anger.â
âBut what if the demon does the same thing here?â you meekly wondered.
Ed clarified, âThis church is still hallowed ground. We know a lot about Father Perez and he would never try the same thing Father Christopher did.â
You turned back toward the door. The closer you got to the door, the louder the whispering got. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath, and stepped over the threshold.
The whispering quieted. You were finally alone in your mind.
An older man with his back facing you stood near the alter. It was Father Perez. Ed respectfully got the priestâs attention.
Lorraine apologized, âWeâre sorry if weâre bothering you, Father. Iâm Lorraine Warren, and this is my husband, Ed. By any chance, have you heard of us?â
Father Perez was clearly surprised by his new guests. âYes, of course,â he answered, âYou two have done remarkable things for the church.â
After shaking the priestâs hand, Ed pronounced, âWeâve heard the same about you, Father. Thatâs why weâre here.â
Mrs. Warren continued, âWe didnât know who we could trust.â
The minister was clearly startled by the news. âCome,â he urged, âWe can talk more freely in my office.â
***
âSo what do I do now? How do I get rid of it?â you asked once Ed and Lorraine explained your situation to Father Perez.
He thought for a moment. âI donât think there is a way for you to rid yourself of your abilities. But I also donât think it is necessary for you to do so. Undoubtedly, this is a unique situation. I apologize for Father Christopher. The man sounded to be scared, and so he acted irrationally. So irrationally, Iâm afraid his church can no longer be considered holy ground because of his actions. I can promise you I will not be following in his footsteps. In fact, I believe that with determination and practice, there might come a day that you can control these new abilities.â
â...What about the whispers? Do I have to learn to control those, too?â The thought upset you.
Father Perez seemed more hesitant then. He looked to the Warrens. âI believe the best course of action is to find the demon and banish it back to hell. If not...Iâm afraid that the voice could get worse until the point where Y/n either joins the demon or--â
âI kill myself,â you finished with a tinge of disbelief in your voice.
The priest confirmed, âIâm afraid so.âÂ
Ed consoled you, âWell, itâs a good thing you have us. This is what we do, Y/n. Weâll keep you safe.â
Lorraine nodded in resolute agreement with her husband before turning back to the minister. âBut why now? Why did Y/n only start experiencing their powers yesterday?â
Furrowing his brow, Father Perez inquired, âHow old are you, Y/n?â
âTwelve,â you answered, confused by the question.
Realization washed over the clairvoyant. âIt could be a mockery of the bible. Twelve is considered to be the perfect number in Godâs eyes. When was your birthday?â
   âLast week,â you responded.
Mr. Warren cut in, âThat explains it. There wasnât any trigger for Y/n to use their powers until yesterday.â
As Ed and Lorraine planned on what to do about your biological demon father, Father Perez caught your eye. He wished you a happy birthday. Despite the situation your birthday brought you that year, Father Perezâs words made you smile.
You put your focus back on Ed and Lorraine. They were disagreeing on something.
Ed shook his head. âI donât like it.â
His wife sighed, âNeither do I, but if we donât act now, Y/n might be lost for good.â
âWhat is it?â you asked, âWhat are you guys talking about?â
Both of the Warrens looked at you. Ed took a deep breath before he explained, âWe have a plan...but it is dangerous...â
Lorraine finished for her husband. âItâs possible you could get hurt.â
âBut the demon will go away?â you optimistically inquired.
She cautioned, âIf our plan works, yes.â
âOkay,â you agreed after some thought, âYeah, letâs do it.â
