The Commander frowned. Something was going wrong. Something about her father. he couldnât quite piece it together. He knew in the past that her father was part of the army. Did she find out? Did something happen? He was quite worried about her.
âNana, thereâs nothing that I want more than to know whatâs wrong. Youâre my friend. I want to be able to help you through whatever is causing you pain⊠But I get if you donât want to talk about it. I understand wanting distractions. Donât worry about upsetting me, though. Iâm always here to listen.
âBut, Whatevers⊠Did you still want to take one of the Whatevers from the lab with you? Iâm sure any of them would love that. Iâve been keeping track of the one that you held before. Heâs very friendly.â
The Commander gave a small sigh. He really worried about her. He just wished that whatever this was wouldnât be too bad. This seemed so bad that not even a Whatever could cheer her up.
No no no no no, that was not how the conversation was supposed to go! Nana was making it depressing and if she cried everything would be ruined! but... she wanted to tell him. she needed to tell him. keeping it all in was painful and overwhelming and just... maybe..maybe just a little bit would be okay?
â I just..didnât thought it could get any worse, okay? but it did and Iâm still not..sure how to feel about this. I-Iâm still waiting for him to come back when I know he wonât! I wonât ever s-see him again. Thatâs... Thatâs all. â
That wasnât even half of what Nana had to say, but everything she could tell for now if she didnât want to cry in front of him, and now that the girl was shaking a bit and avoiding eye contact without even noticing crying would just make her look even more pathetic, or at least thatâs what she believed. It was the Commanderâs commentary on the Whatevers that made Nana go back a little bit to what she used to be.
â The.. oh, yes I-I will! Iâm just not sure if itâd be a good moment now. M-Mom seems a bit..unstable. Heâd not like to live with me right now. B-But Iâm sure once I convince her Iâll take him with me! I-I would really love to see him right now... â
Nana wasnât sure if a Whatever could help, but sheâd do anything to forget the pain of what was dying inside of her.
