Phasma had never expected to hear the name Armitage Hux again, unless it was included in a bounty announcement. But now, she heard his name on the lips of common cantina thugs and locals alike, debating the rise of the former General in the new galactic government, rebuilding itself from the rubble the First Order had left it in, and whether they would answer his call for a new bodyguard.
It didn’t take the former Captain, now bounty hunter, long to track his contacts down. He was a public figure again, but far more accessible. She might as well have looked him up at a data center. And that sort of publicity, mixed with his history...she could only imagine what the old Resistance would think of it. What would-be assassins would be coming out of the woodwork to find him.
Many had applied through the proper channels, sent data files like resumes. Phasma, however, sent nothing but her name. Within minutes, she received coordinates in response.
When she stepped out of her ship and into his, armored escorts were there to receive her, weapons drawn as they escorted her through the corridors and into the confined space of a small office where Armitage sat, waiting to see if his Captain was truly alive...or if a pretender had made a dangerous gamble.
