One of the things I hear most people refering to HIV Positives is that we have AIDS. Little they know that these aren’t the same thing. So let’s have a quick lesson.

HIV or Human Immune Deficiency Virus is a retrovirus, it attacks our immune system and if not controlled it leads to AIDS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Sindrome, which is the disease caused by this type of virus. 

Once you got infected by HIV and as soon as you knowledge that, you get a choice of starting or not your Antiretroviral Treatment (also known as ART). A treatment, provided by the goverment in some countries, that inhibtis the virus to infect other T CD4 or white blood cells, responsible for our immune system. ART controls the virus so it doesn’t lead us to AIDS, that is when our T CD4 cells are mostly infected and it weakens our immune system opening a door to several diseases to get in our bodies leading us to death. 

But if like me, you are under ART and already indetectable (when the virus is in control) that won’t happen. The treatment will help your immune system to keep body strong, healthy and most important the retrovirus will no longer be transmittable.
