Understanding the factors that cause female infertility
Studies have found that around 10 percent of couples in the US who are trying to conceive will experience difficulty. In those cases, 30 percent of those cases is attributed to the female infertility, 30 percent to male infertility, and the rest to other factors.

There are many factors that can contribute to female infertility, and the most common are as follows:
• Endometriosis. This is when endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus. Possible treatments or solutions for this condition include surgery, fertility drugs and artificial insemination, and assisted reproductive technologies.
• Ovulation problems. These prevent the development of a mature egg in the ovaries. Solutions include fertility drugs and in vitro fertilization.
• Poor egg quality. As women age, they become prone to this problem. Solutions include in vitro fertilization of donor eggs or embryos.

• Polycystic ovarian syndrome. This is when small ovarian follicles fail to develop into mature follicles that release eggs. Solutions include proper diet and exercise, fertility drugs, and in vitro fertilization.
• Tubal factors. This is when blocked fallopian tubes prevent the sperm from reaching the egg or prevent the fertilized egg from reaching the uterus. Solutions include surgery to remove the blockage or in vitro fertilization if surgery fails.
