This is the final outcome for the concept collider project. The finished zine was stapled together after signatures were created, then finally cut down to create a working book.

We used bone folders to create crisp folds for the pages, but it became increasingly difficult as the paper had a high gsm.

Week 7

Today, we bound our Concept Colliders, we each folded a bunch of the A3 pieces of paper with our work. This was done similarly to the binding workshop. We then put our pages into the front covers and used our creaser to make sure everything was nicely folded with a sharp edge. Next, we stapled the cover and pages to properly bind them and Hannah used the guillotine to cut the some of the edges, so that the pages are individual spreads instead of still connected with the fold. Overall, I think we created a really nice booklet with all of our work and I love the bright colours that were created from the riso printer.

Today, we put together our designs through Riso printing to create our collaborative concept collider. At the same time, we worked to understand how to format a zine.

The Riso printing itself was an interesting method, and I found I might be able to use it in the future. The duotone and screenprinting-quality would make great graphic designs.

In this workshop we combined a selection of our favourite shapes and types from the concept collider project and layered them together to form the pages of the zine printed on the Risograph. In our groups of 7, we combined all our individual designs and created two pages which will be folded up and bound together to create a 16 page zine. We printed in pink and teal which are two quite contrasting colours that don't blend together well as one is significantly darker, this meant we needed to really think about what designs would show up best together.

Continuing on from the last part of the concept collider project, we were asked to select 4 words out of the list and whilst rotating around different stations, create black and white compositions that communicate the concept. The workshops included: using ink, using grid/graph/isometric paper to create the lettering, tracing over letters and cutting out lettering
