Intersections (10/10)
Overall, my Intersections project has had its ups and downs.
First, I am proud of the illustrations I completed, as I've never drawn in such a style, nor have I ever drawn food before. I am pleased with the results, and I have also received positive comments from others.
On the other hand, I know I still could've done more for this project. My original project was going to be something like a book or a fold-out poster, which eventually was ruled out. I know my main design goal was to have a product that could be displayed on the wall, which is why I ended up with a poster-like recipe card. Now thinking about it, I could have done this, while also making a fully-fleshed out book.
Although I'm not sure what I would have put in the book had I made one, but I'm just not sure if I am fully content with my final product. I feel there may be something missing from my recipe cards. Packaging? Maybe my layout does not actually feel like recipe cards?
But given the time constraints made worse through my initial confusion with the brief and my indecisiveness later on, my final recipe cards are still good deliverables. I do not think the cards themselves appear rushed, as I was able to pour enough time into each of them.
In hindsight, my biggest error in this entire process was not looking at the overall picture in terms of time. In my head, there was only one date, November 27th, the final hand-in. Anything that happened before then was a spontaneous choice. For the next long-term project, I know I need to work on proper planning and self-discipline, to finish tasks with certainty and efficiency.
