Weekly Time Post 3/2
TIME Project
Project idea 1: Budding of a tree
Form:
Take a picture of a branch every other day for the semester and watch it start to bud and grow leaves.
Process:
Use tape to mark where my tripod needs to go. Collect pictures and build into a stop motion.
Content:
It will symbolize the passage of time of the seasons and growth.
Project idea 2: “Retail has aged you.”
Form:
Using photography, take a picture of my eyes everyday at 5-8 pm until the end of the semester.
Watch the emotion in the eyes as they move through the life of a retail worker and student.
Process:
Combine each photograph into a stop motion video.
Content:
This project represents the struggle of a busy schedule and how it may affect one’s beauty. The impermanence of beauty. The sacrifices that life requires.
Project idea 3: Sculpture in the elements
Form:
The material will be sculpting clay, paint, the elements, a camera, seeds, water and fertilizer. A sculpture of a woman’s head with a hole in the top full of seeds.
Process:
Start my making the face of a woman. Leave a hole on top of her head and fill with seeds. Put it outside in a fixed place. Take pictures everyday. Combine pictures. Watch as the elements affect the sculpture and the seeds grow.
Content:
The concept I want to convey is the impermanence of beauty.
What I will likely go with is both project ideas 2 and 3. I hope to merge them together by placing the pictures of the eyes over the eyes of the woman to show the effect that time has one a person and thing. Time destroys and it also creates. If one project doesn’t seem to be as impactful as the other, then I can make the decision of what to go with and what to leave out.
