(1/2)Hi! I just staffed C+A+D (and totally forgot that I signed up for it but still did it) and I met Ryan (Dun dun Dunn). I thought I'd avoid him because he was at con ops and I was working reg. Around 3:30-ish I think con ops came over and checked our computers and all that. Everything was fine with me and everyone was there. I was started to fill out the forum for a guy who just heard about the con today and Rylan happened to be right behind me at the time. So he saw what I was doing.
2/2)Which was all fine until he asked me to come over to the side.He then proceeded to yelled at me over something I didnât know. I didnât know I could leave the email space blank (despite saying required*), so Iâve been putting some letter in there and he flipped his shit on me. He yelled at me over this. I was given no training. I was just told to do this by someone in my department. Honestly, he ruined the experience of staffing a con since I wanted to just test it out.
(This actually turned out to be 3⌠Opps)At least I didnât buy shit there, nothing went to waste. Iâm 17, female. I donât know if that says much but Iâm never going near his cons ever again. Only going there for ACEN. I hope he doesnât take over ACEN since the person who ran it quit last year and thereâs a battle for whoâs in charge now (why the rates which up and new site if you didnât know)
(This came in as three asks to me earlier this week)
I donât have a lot to add, beyond my total lack of surprise.
As for the ACEN bit, I donât have a lot of inside knowledge into their internal politics, but while Iâm sure Mr. Kopf wants ACENâs business (heâs currently banned from the event last I checked - so Iâm sure he wants a more favorable administration), I doubt heâd try to âtake overâ it just because a massive non-profit like that is a lot of work.
