What a beautiful opening night last night for "Community Spirit" Memo gallery Healesville. It's always a highlight in an artists life to exhibit our ideas and share our story. This is me with my sculpture , representing and following the ethos of the #toolangisculpturetrail using materials from Toolangi with my addition of woollen fibres. Facial recognition dashes painted in #toolangiclay on charged eucalypts limb, Eucalypts leaf prints on woollen fibres , felted pods nesting gathered lichens . Tittle " Recognition of life" 2018. . .. When I was a child I was very aware and switched on so it is interesting in reflecting back that I actually had trouble identifying the fact that in the bush and in natural landscapes everything is alive in a profound interconnected way, I know big ideas hard to translate and difficult to be in finding yourself in the path of material that might make one open to this idea ias a child living in the 80's. This is even considering that I was a young member of the field naturist society and spent a great deal of time in nature observing it. In my adulthood I now ponder these thoughts and ideas of nature , it is complex yet perfectly precisely detailed and communicating in its own way , its movement and evolution is best understood by looking outside the box and forgetting what you do know. I can now acknowledge that it is absolutely alive and a life and every life is precious. We need to embed more of these ideas into our culture to connect humans to empathy and flip the switch on for instinctive nurturing of our living natural environments. #feltsculpture #nature #workingwithnature #ecofriendly #eucalypts representing #ecoprint #elementalleafexpressions #ecoprintersofinstagram #ecofriendly #workingasnature #theforestisalive. #feelinggrateful #healesville #ecoprint #botanicaldye #softsculpture #fungi #micelia #felt #feltsculpture #australianart #bushdye #comunityspirit (at Memorial Hall Healesville)
