So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to Win 10 using the Media Creation tool. Thankfully, I did not need to get rid of all of my programs and files, though I did jot down a whole mess of passwords from my main password manager and serial numbers for several of my programs in case the worst happened and I needed to reinstall everything and get my passwords back.
Quite surprisingly, I did not need to enter a CD key, and even more surprisingly, I got access to the Privacy Options, which allowed me to switch everything off. I do not need Microsoft tracking and recording every little fucking thing I do on my machine. There was something of a conflict with what turned out to be my copy of Sandboxie, which was keeping me from starting up once I actually made the switch from 7 to 10, and was BSODing me over and over. So after I was able to get booted up following some looking up on how to get into Safe Mode, I booted that program right the hell off my system.
That being said, Iβm beginning to look into build options for a new machine, because Iβve had this machine for more than a decade, and itβs getting close to time for a new machine anyway. I want something that can run the latest DOOM, and do some decent rendering, as well as play music and DVDs, so Iβve been hitting PCPartPicker and am beginning to work out a plan. Though with my budget, it may be a while before I can actually afford to build it.
