I have always dreaded writing essays because I never quite know how to start. I want to work on becoming more confident in my writing skills, so that in the future I am not intimidated whenever one of my professors assigns an essay.

My experience as a writer in the beginning was very complicated because I had trouble writing down my thoughts; however, as time went by the more knowledge I retained. I do have some difficulties when it comes to research papers because I overthink everything and make it more complicated. I am comfortable with my current writing skills, but I think I can definitely improve on my word choices because I don’t like my essays to sound repetitive, wordy, or vague.

What is your experience as a writer? Are you comfortable with your skills? Is there anything you’d like to improve on?

To be completely honest me, and writing have never gotten along, or let’s say I’ve really never given it a chance. I’m not so good with essays, reports, etc., I always tend to ignore the fact that they’re there; and what makes it harder is that my english vocabulary isn’t that much advanced. But, when I give it my all to “makes it the best essay” I STRUGGLE. So yeah, my experience with writing has been pretty bad, but I'm hoping this course will help me improve my writing skills.

Up until this point in my life, I really didn't like writing on a topic I myself was not interested in. Therefore, the papers that I produced were "Alright" so to speak. I've learned though that I do have a passion for writing, just not expository and persuasive based essays....or any essays on that matter. I love writing fiction because it's me... I'm getting all of my work from my mind I don't have to hunt anything down or prove that I'm right or even cite pages...What I do is stress free it calms me and the best thing about 2017 is that I can share my stories in seconds.

My own experiences with writing have always been mediocre, I have never been too strong of a writer so I have never given much thought of writing. I have just always wrote an “okay” paper over subjects in school and moved along with a barely passing grade. I am hopeful to to get a better concept of writing and how to become a better writer throughout this semester to achieve an exceptional grade for this class.
