There's a final fantasy character?
I don't like the Commodore. Invasion block had many issues, but the levity Guff brought with him only created more, by being such a swerve in Magic's story. He didn't defuse the tension, he undermined it. Why is this book trying to make me smile at whimsy during a scene that highlights its characters realizing they're killing essentially civilians? The end solution is a mystical prophecy but also that wasn't planned to work but also that was partially engineered but also that gained a life of its own? It makes no sense.
And then his card is boring. Normal. Literally a generic design to do what the deck wants to do. Make mana, draw cards, protect, win games. All lined up with the deck theme. That has nothing to do with Guff? They just slapped him on the most boring design they had. I dislike the character, yet I feel angered at how bland and disconnected from his character his card ended up doing. You made Space Beleren eternal-legal! Why does Commodore Guff just make mana and draw cards?!? Why does he want you to play more planeswalkers, he isn't even the one that brought the Titans together in the first place!

Hot Take: There should be a successor to the Microprose Magic The Gathering game.
Hotter Take: in that game, Commodore Guff should be a secret bonus boss with a deck entirely made out of Un- set cards and this, officially licensed and entirely canon, as his boss theme.
