even though he hates it, hydra gave you a modified version of his serum, making you like and not like him. you can endure more, and you’re likely to live as long as him, but you still can’t protect yourself as well past good aim with your handgun.

it doesn’t matter, he always decides. you don’t need to protect yourself if he’s around.

This is what is so fascinating to HYDRA, no matter how programmed and obedient the Winter Soldier is- killing with even more terrifying accuracy because he's not going to give his handlers any reason to be upset and possibly hurt you, it's like your presence sharpens his lethal skills to a razor's edge- his love for you is evident in everything he does and it cannot be broken or diminished.

Giving you his jacket when you're waiting with him on some roof he's gonna snipe a target from.

Holding your hand to help you in and out of the large HYDRA tanks that you can easily manuever, because you're so small it seems- especially in HYDRA bases full of weapons that could easily hurt you even if you just tripped over them.

And you're brushing his hair every night, helping him shave. Seemingly unbothered by your imprisonment, acting like the best housewife you can in your conditions. And when he asks you about it one night when y'all are curled up on the bed he demanded (he can sleep on a cot, but you, his baby sis, would have an actual bed to sleep on) you just look at him with so much love in your eyes it overwhelms him all over again and tell him,

"It doesn't matter. I'm with you. That's all I'll ever need."
