[Links at original post] As you know, the City of Vancouver’s composting program does not accommodate people living in condos and apartments (but here’s a list of private companies your building can hire for a fee). However, if are one of the thousands of apartment dwellers, the city is offering you an opportunity to buy one of a limited-number of worm composting bins for $25 a pop. According to the city’s website, each compost bin comes with a lid, tray, worms, bedding and instructions. Sounds like a great bargain right? Well, there’s one hoop you’ll have to jump through before you can start recycling your organic trash... In order to purchase one of the composting kits, you'll have to take part in an hour-long workshop at the city’s compost demonstration garden. Interested parties are dirtected to this resource website (that looks like it was made in 1996) which includes links to all sorts of brochures, books and comic strips, on worm composting.
