An explanation: My favorite interpretations of Anakin are those who picture him as beyond human: “When Anakin rises, the galaxy rises with him, when Anakin is in turmoil, the galaxy is in turmoil, when Anakin falls, so falls the galaxy. Anakin is intrinsic to the galaxy because Anakin, like so many other mythological demi-gods is an avatar for the gods or, in the case of Star Wars, the Force.” (steelneena on AO3) And I thought it was perfect to use it for an illustration to this fic. In the story and on the drawing, the scene is really similar to the meditation moment we have in AOTC. There is just this detail to notice: Anakin is crushing his own fingers out of utter frustration. It’s a detail. Because his hands are small next to the whole rest of his body. Yet, when you (or Padmé, really) see it, it’s honestly disturbing. Because fingers aren’t meant to be at this angle or in this order, because hands are too useful to be self-torn, because it’s sad when breaking your own body is the only way to find relief. I haven’t done much with the hands, because, as I said, they are too small for something that painful. But since Anakin is the galaxy, the galaxy suffers with him; and thus, you can see Anakin’s broken fingers in Varykino’s broken pillars. There are some embellishments that became dragons. And there is a Krayt one somewhere. Anakin is like standing in the sky. Because he is a (and the last) Skywalker. I’l pretty sure the pillars can’t possibly hold themselves like this, but I’m pretty sure Anakin isn’t exactly stable right now. There is a crack in the floor/sky.
