Comme Ça by Domenique Dumont
L’esprit de L’escalier - Domenique Dumont
There’s no other word for Domenique Dumont’s Comme Ça EP than entrancing. (Well, light, bubbly, tropical and easy might also do.) This track has been in heavy rotation (at my house at least) and it makes me wish summer would hurry up and get here already.

The Listening Habit: Issue 2 Vol. 1
My listening habit has been acting up again this week. Maybe it’s the humidity or that strawberry season is tapering, but I’ve had a hard time latching on to music this week. Looking back I did hear some fun stuff and made a return to one of my all time faves
Domenique Dumont - Comme Ça
I’m a sucker for female french vocals and uptempo undercover disco...so by transitive property I’m a sucker for Domenique Dumont. The bouncy title track was my gateway into this fun little 6 track from Antinote Records. If there were an underwater Parisian disco frequented by Nintendo characters, Comme Ça would be the music of choice. Listen for yo’self here:

Thundercat - The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam
I have a bass crush on Stephen Bruner. Bruner, the man behind Thundercat, released the little mini album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam a few weeks ago on Brainfeeder. It’s been a big year for Bruner as a sideman having been featured on To Pimp a Butterfly and Kamasi Washington’s The Epic, but it’s great to see him return to his solo project here as he puts forward some of his most developed and crafted work yet. The album has it’s definite banger in “Them Changes” but to neglect the other five tracks would miss the point. The bass playing is on point, and in a change from Apocalypse Bruner seems to really take time to build and release over the course of the album. Where songs on Apocalypse are cellular, the sonic space of The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam is very consistent and best as a complete entity. And oh by the way, Herbie Hancock makes a guest appearance...
LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
Q: If a tree falls in the forest can there still be a dance party?
A: Yes, if LCD Soundsystem is playing.
We are living in a post-LCD Soundsystem world, and while that could also translate to a post-The Fall or post-Liquid Liquid world, James Murphy brought post-punk disco to new heights with LCD Soundsystem ten years ago. Looking around at the disco influences on rock music today, with bands like Tame Impala dropping dance-seltzer in their psych-rock cups, it’s hard to overlook the impact LCD Soundsystem made during their relatively short career. While Sound of Silver is my definite favorite, I returned to LCD this week to start again with one of my favorite bands. LCD Soundsystem is rough in the way sandpaper is when you rub it on your skin. Murphy lays everything he has out for you in both his lyrical content and delivery and walks the line between sloppiness and precision in dance music with expert skill. “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House” is the obvious choice from this album, but I’m going to go with the last track on the LP, “Great Release”

legjobb friss felfedezés!
A burger made from pork, veal and rabbit? Oui! It's all yours Wednesdays at Comme Ca (Cosmopolitan), along with rib eye and Magalista pork versions. It happens on the deck overlooking The Strip, and it's a very reasonable $20 or so.
