Time For An MLP Ask Blog Appreciation Post!
Hey, gang! Mod River Babble of Ask-IAmNotAnAlicorn here!Â
I’m back from vacation and planning more of Salespitch’s replies to Asks. But in the meantime, to give ya’ll something to do while you patiently wait, I had a thought for a post that would be fun, (relatively) easy, AND useful to make, so here we go!
Since I started Salespitch’s Ask Blog, I’ve been trying to find more MLP Ask Blogs on Tumblr that I could really get into, both for personal enjoyment/improvement and better connection in the community. There are a LOT of options, but it can still be hard to find ones that are just my style, you know? Blogs with art style, story/character, and humor that I especially enjoy. Well, I’ve managed to find some favorites, and in the spirit of sharing my discoveries with other people who are ALSO looking for quality MLP Ask Blogs, here are a few that I’m really enjoying so far!
(DISCLAIMER: I specifically said A FEW; please don’t be sad if I didn’t include yours! Also, all of these blogs are SFW)
1) WingSpiral (@wingspiral)
This was the first really big, long-standing story ask blog I found when I began my search. It’s set in a slightly alternate universe that doesn’t seem to include the Mane 6, and follows the adventures of best bros Stardust Spiral and Wing Saber (as well as other friends). The art style is SUPER fun, it has great humor, and there is an interesting story that continue to progress through each story arch while still incorporating reader questions. It’s currently on hiatus, but has quite a nice archive for your viewing pleasure!
2) Ask Billie The Kid (@askbilliethekid)
I actually just found this one recently, but boy I am LOVING IT. It follows a blank flank filly from Apple Loosa named Billie and her misadventures. The story is webcomic-style and growing INCREASINGLY more interesting as time goes on, leaving me greatly in suspense and irrationally upset when I caught up. The humor is great, there is a fun cast of characters, and just look at that adorable pony. SHE IS ADORABLE. Take a look if only to appreciate such adorableness.
3) Fallout Equestria: Lk10Lenny (@lk10lenny)
Next is a truly entertaining pixel-art ask blog based around Lenny, a silent, blank-flank pony in a post-apocalyptic Equestria. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure style story in that all Asks are considered as inputs that Lenny uses to decide what he should do. Speaking as someone who knows ALMOST NOTHING about Fallout, I can testify that it is entirely enjoyable even if you know almost nothing about Fallout, plus it is hilarious and full of pixel pony cameos. Also, Cody (the mod) runs a great livestream on Picarto, JSYK.
4) Ask Night Stitch (@asknightstitch)
Coloring is not my thing, especially with backgrounds, and this next one has managed to really impress me multiple times with the GORGEOUS backgrounds. Once again, the art style is super great, with a variety of cute and colorful characters. The Main of the blog is Night Stitch, a seamstress bat pony from Batlinburg (excellent name pun). Aside from fun art and characters, there’s also some really great lore/background for both the bat pony species and the town itself. Also, I love the fact that she has her whole family in her blog. (I actually only just realized that she, like Salespitch, is ALSO the child of two different pony subspecies and has two siblings. XD I promise I was not copying!)
5) Children of Everfree (@children-of-everfree)
This is an odd one for me in that it lies JUST on the outskirts of horror, a genre I generally don’t dip into. But ironically, Monster!Fluttershy and Dash are so peppy and adorable that you can’t really see them as “monsters” beyond the literal sense. Even the fact that Fluttershy is a spiderpony, which admittedly freaks me out a little, is made bearable by the great art, the SUPER intriguing and mysterious backstory that has only just started being revealed (why are they monsters?! Why is King Sombra in charge?! WHERE ARE THE OTHER MANE 6 PONIES?!), and just the fact that Fluttershy is still super sweet and Rainbow Dash is kind of a cocky goofball. Oh, and it’s a superbly-done gif comic, as you can see here, which is just awesome.Â
6) Ask Folly (@ask-folly) and 7) Command A Pony (@command-a-pony)
Last but not least are Folly and Input! These two get lumped together because they are by the same person. While not currently updating or as strongly reliant on story line (at least in Folly’s case), I really love the style and humor. The facial expressions and jokes are just hilarious, and all sorts of shenanigans happen. Read these for some light and delightful fun with a crystal pony who fixes crystal ponies and/or some mysterious and silly adventures with a three-legged pony who literally doesn’t know what’s going on.
And that’s all for now, folks! I hope somebody out there enjoys my recommendations, and thank you to the artists for supplying such delightful content! :D I hope Salespitch’s blog will be half as fun for my readers. Also, do you guys know any MLP Ask Blogs you really enjoy? Please let me know in a PM! I’m always on the lookout!
That’s all for now, ma peeps. Have a most excellent weekend, and God bless!
