⌛️ - How often does your muse think about death? Do they think about it at all?
Oh boy, does he! He sure does! Death as a concept is something he’s known about for a long time- plants and animals dying, returning to the earth, then feeding new plants and animals. However, he never really had to deal with death until Ganondorf cursed the Great Deku Tree. That was Link’s first time dealing with death in two ways: first, killing monsters, and second, the death of his Father.
The Great Deku Tree’s death is something that’s always at the back of his mind. He misses his dad a lot and he was never really allowed time to mourn him- the first thing he hears after leaving the meadow is Mido blaming him for what happened. So he, uh, yeah. Didn’t really cope with that.
When it comes to monsters, Link isn’t really sure what to think about it so he kinda tries to avoid dwelling in order to prevent an existential crisis? In Hyrule it was better because they were monsters mostly created as a result of evil magics and stuff like that, but then you’ve also got situations like with Twinrova where he did like. Kill them. They were evil as all hell and would’ve killed him and they hurt a loooot of people but he still feels bad? About having to kill people? Again, he generally avoids this topic to avoid an existential crisis.
Then there’s people like Darmani and Mikau and the deku butler’s son and Link just gets real sad thinking about them.... real sad. He knows their souls are at rest now in the masks, so he’s glad he could give them peaceful rest, but he’s still just. Sad. He wishes they hadn’t had to die.
Death is just... unfortunately something of a constant in his life. And that makes me sad.
