Bg '24 has the opposite problem to BoP, where Brombal is so caught up in The Lore that it impedes the pacing and enjoyability of the story. Shiva continues to be a major issue, like I don't think Brombal understands the core themes of her story (or even the core message of her relationship with Cass!!). He's clearly read all of it but the understanding and execution are not quite there, like Shiva to Cass should represent freedom!! She is not the right character to pick for storylines about heritage or destiny!!! And frankly I don't even like the themes Brombal has picked but alas. Sadly it kind of is Tec 2016's fault, Cass-Shiva has never recovered from that (sigh). Love Tenji and Jaya and I wish the issues were more focussed on the new characters and less on the ghost of Shiva, like Tenji & Jaya are both such good foils for Cass!! Let them shine!! Also absence of Babs + David continue to suck but again might be editorial's fault. Kind of interested to see Spirit World arc though because we get 1 step closer to Tai'Darshan everydayyy

So yeah they both have their ups and downs, but I am so grateful for both of them existing because people are being introduced to Cass that way and Cass nation only grows bigger ❤️❤️. I think the best Cass characterisation we've gotten post-2020 is definitely still Ram V's 'tec and to a much lesser extent the back half of Outsiders, Bryan Hill should write a Cass story he loves that girl SO much. My biggest wishes for 2026 Cass are:

Y’know the hardest part of interacting with the nightwing fandom is peoples opinions on the Tom Taylor run. If u didn’t like it and or had a few issues with how certain things were portrayed- that’s completely fine! And honestly I agree with a lot of peoples takes.

Like yes it is a bit low stakes

Yes dicks a bit more “happy” and “less serious” compared to previous comics- there’s a better way to say that but yall know what I mean.

Was NOT a fan of the sister. Lmao. Only liked her cuz it made the flying Grayson’s look like lovely people. Besides that she’s just a stepping stone for dick to have someone in power on his side. Plus I hate the secret/lost sibling trope. This man already has siblings. It reminds me of Damian’s new “brother”. 😑

And yes- admittedly it is carried by the art (love u Bruno)- some people hate or can’t stand his art anymore bc of this which I find ridiculous.

But MANNN the run isn’t completely shit- nor do I personally think it’s out of character. I think at the time of it coming out and now retrospectively it’s seen in a positive light cuz it came after the “ric” stuff. Thank god. But now it gets so much hate to the point I find it funny when people say “unpopular opinion- I don’t like tt nw run” like bfr that’s not an unpopular opinion.

I get and even agree with the negative takes but I feel like it’s taken wayyyy out of proportion. Especially since I think every single nightwing run always has slight changes and different eras of how he’s characterised.

He wasn’t ooc(to me personally) and I absolutely adore how he emphasis how important his role is in the dc universe. I love that. I love how he portrayed how vital he is to everyone and his relationship with the Titans, batfam, Bruce and bludhaven, etc.

I jsut feel like it has so many good qualities yet all people do is complain.

Idk its fine if u don’t like it- most people I follow or are mutuals with don’t or have issues with if they do- and that’s completely fine and I understand but when I see people say that ur not a “real fan” if u like Tom Taylor’s nightwing run it’s a little disheartening.

Idk sorry if this comes off rude, just wanted to ramble. I’m someone who appreciates and likes a lot of comics, even if they’re not rated that high, so I end up enjoying and making the most of things. I think Tom Taylor’s run is just special to me since it got me hooked into comics and nightwing. I know it has issues but I think it’s a significant run to nightwing as a character, especially now, and I think it’s critique wayyy too hard.

Like I never see any complaints about older nightwing comics- which I love probably more than TT run, even tho some of the characterisation, the plot and messages can be downright shit. Lmao.

I think this shows just that some haters are in a loud minority. It’s funny seeing how popular the run was at the start, and in sales, on other platforms and how it’s recommended by so many big dc creators, fans, etc. but it’s treated like the plague on her, Twitter, Insta, etc. lol.

Again no hate at all! We’re all entitled to our own opinions.
