Road Trips
I find myself on yet another road trip.This one is technically for work, but I have made it an adventure anyway. Sure, I could have flown instead of driven the 10 hours, but I really enjoy the drive.
Road trips are something everyone should do. I don’t want to push the metaphor too hard, but if life is a journey and the process is what matters, then road trips are a great embodiment of that mentality. I have stopped many times to take pictures, look at clouds, find little places to hike. I even had a conversation with a stranger in a Starbucks just now before I wrote this. Road trips can drag, but you can also see all the wonderful things. Travel sometimes needs to be about expediency; you absolutely have to get to a place and it has to be as quickly as possible. But when you can, walk it. If you can’t walk it, bike it. If you can’t bike it, take a road trip. You see things and feel things and you can think about things.
I like this journey as I like many of my journeys. Sometimes I forget that I like the journey, but I’m always reminding myself that I do. The only thing that would make this journey better is if I had a partner who wanted to share my journeys with me and who wanted to share their journeys with me. A shared journey is that much better.
