I went to a strip mall the other day and one of the stores had some Rubik's Cubes at the checkout line for cheap. I bought a 3x3 and a 4x4 on a whim, and that has activated my goblin brain so now I'm obsessed with twisty puzzles. I bought a 2x2 cube and a Pyraminx online, and I have my eyes set on the rest of the platonic solids
The Megaminx family specifically is calling for me...
The only thing keeping me in check is that this is an inordinately expensive hobby. These higher order puzzles are not cheap, and they're notoriously fragile, so I'm refraining from making any more purchases. Maybe I can get one for my birthday, or Christmas, space them out over a few years.
What I need to do is force myself to learn to solve one before I'm allowed to buy another, otherwise they're just colorful paperweights. I struggle with a 4x4 cube, and that's one of the easiest to solve.
