I put this headcanon on that battle stats meme but it’s important so here we go again:Â
Inara is a strong warrior, arguably one of the best in Ferelden. Against Darkspawn, the undead, and various creatures, she excels -- brute strength, stamina, and basic strategy are on her side against the mindless. When it comes to trained warriors, however, Inara suffers a serious disadvantage. She receives no constant formal training until she gets recruited by Duncan at 18, and even that only lasts the month or so she’s with him. After Ostagar, her training is mostly mimicking Alistair and... she’s not very disciplined at that. She learns fast because she has to, but when it comes to form, technique, and strategy, she lacks a lot.Â
Loghain helps her at the tail end of Origins, Sten trains her a bit in Seheron, and Nathaniel does a lot of work to fix her in Awakening and for the five years after she stays with the Order, but there’s only so much that even he can do to cure her laziness.Â
When she gets injured in Inquisition and has to switch from dual-wield to sword-and-shield, her combat further suffers. She’s still a strong warrior against lesser enemies, but well-trained, experienced warriors (Templars, chevaliers, knights, etc) will have an edge on her every time.
and also, i look like shit today
I forgot how heavy shields were. Really need to start doing push ups again. But on a better combat note, I just found out that my small sword is named Athos. I think I need to inherit this sword.
