Whumpee wakes up in the hospital, and it's a completely different season outside. The incident happened in the sweltering heat of summer, but when they muster the energy to turn their head and look out the window, it's snowing outside. Just how long have they been out...?

Caretaker was beside whumpee when they woke up. Caretaker immediately broke into tears, hugging and sobbing "You're awake! You're finally awake! I was so worried about you!"
Whumpee stiffened in their arms, mumbling "How... How long was I asleep?..."

Craaaaaving part 2 of that intubation whump from the other day!!
In the meantime: Coma whumpee, Caretaker sitting vigil by their bedside, eventually crawling into the hospital bed next to whumpee, the beep of the monitors and the hiss of the ventilator lulling them to sleep.
ok part 2 of intubation whump has been up for a while now (this ask was from ages ago) but... I love this scenario so much!!
caretaker is exhausted after so long spent sitting by whumpee waiting for them to wake up- they haven't slept properly in days (perhaps because, if they're partners, they usually sleep together).
in the middle of the night, caretaker finally gives in and climbs into bed next to whumpee, having to be careful to avoid the jungle of wires and tubes surrounding them. they wrap their arms around whumpee, perturbed by the relative coldness of the one they love and the unnaturally regular rising and falling of their chest.
even just laying here, not being in whumpee's position, it's easy to get overstimulated- the wires are everywhere, there's constant beeping from the monitors (occasional alarms). but soon caretaker gets used to the rhythm of it all, and manages to close their eyes.
"wake up, whumpee. please." they whisper, but receive nothing in return except the dull thudding of a still-beating heart.
Whumpee is a person who cares about Caretaker and his friends. Whumpee is a person who is willing to endanger himself for the benefit of others. Whumpee is not someone who will complain, even when faced with difficulties or suffering. Whumpee is also able to restore the smiles of Caretaker and his friends who are sad.
Certainly, Whumpee is loved by Caretaker and his friends.
Therefore, when Whumpee finally woke up from his long sleep in the hospital bed, Caretaker and all his friends felt happy and grateful to see Whumpee open his eyes again. Whumpee doesn't understand at first, but then realizes where he is. Whumpee felt uncomfortable and tried to move, but Caretaker and his friends held him gently, preventing Whumpee from removing the oxygen mask or electrodes attached to his body.
After calming down, Whumpee knew that Caretaker and his friends were talking to him in turn, but his ears were not yet able to clearly hear what they were saying and reply to his words. Whumpee felt Caretaker holding his hand, one of his friends stroking his head, and he even felt the touch on his feet, which were wrapped in a blanket. Even though his eyes were still blurry, Whumpee's eyes moved weakly to look at the faces of Caretaker and his friends one by one. He could see the look of relief mixed with worry on the faces of each person there.
Whumpee knew Caretaker and his friends were fine, so he smiled and closed his eyes again.
A doctor who was there checked Whumpee's vital signs and said Whumpee was just asleep. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. At least Whumpee was awake, and they were free from the fear of losing friends they considered family.
“hey, A.”
“i don’t know if you can hear me, let alone remember me.”
“the doctors say that if you don’t w- if you don’t wake up within a week, then the chances you will… decreases.”
“i’m sorry.”
“i know this is my fault.”
“if i just wasn’t messing around, then none of this would’ve-“
“what i’m trying to say is…”
“you shouldn’t have saved me.”
“it should be me in that bed. not you.”

“hi A.”
“you’ve been like this for eight days now. they wanted you to wake up yesterday.”
“they- they said that they’re considering removing the life support.”
“i don’t like the idea of that tube being removed from your throat. but it’s for the best.”
“i know it must be uncomfortable.”
—————————
“i’m sorry, A.”
“they’re removing it now.”
…
“B..? don’t leave me..”
