Medication âhangoversâ in Whump are so woefully underused. That drug you used to knock your Whumpee out? To combat their insomnia or nightmares? Theyâre going to be feeling it when they wake up. Dry eyes, dry mouth, tiredness, weakness, headaches, balance issues, blunted emotions (or being extra irritable), brain fog and confusion. So great for making your Whumpeeâs day just that little extra bit more horrible.
Whumpee recounting their experiences with Whumper calmly, eloquently, remaining fully composed in front of their Team.
That is, except for the shaking. They hide their hands in their pockets, but their shoulders and legs shake too. They swallow, but it doesnât keep the trembling fully out of their voice. They sit, pretend to cough, give a reassuring smile to their friends. Whumpee is strong. Whumpee has standards to keep up with. Theyâre better than their bodyâs betrayal.
Team notices, but they know better than to comment on it in the moment.
My favorite hobby is making whumpeeâs highly experienced rescuers traumatized and horrified.
Consider:
Youâve done this for basically your entire life, a veteran at your job? Too bad, whumpeeâs state when you find them will haunt you for the rest of it.
Youâve been trained for things âlike thisâ? Yeah, no, whatever whumpeeâs been through is so much worse than that, that your training is useless.
Youâve âseen some thingsâ? Better make room on your list. Because whumpee is at the top.
Captive whumpees who need to be in control and who default to their training and being meticulous to cope with the utter loss of control while captive:
- obsessively making their bed over and over
- getting up at the same time of day even though they don't know what time it is, because their body does somehow
- similarly, obsessing over the time and date
- attempting to keep with the same routine they had when free, even if doing most of it is impossible (they might just pretend to in order to make themselves feel better)
- memorizing guard/captor routines, faces, names, schedules, building layouts in order to have a chance of getting revenge once out
- eating the food theyâre given in a specific order, in a specific way
- collecting and hiding random objects (nails, paperclips, pebbles, sticks, etc) âjust in caseâ
- if theyâre let outside, doing the same âcircuitâ around the area every time, like theyâre doing a patrol
- getting distressed when things were promised but donât happen when/how they were supposed to (meals, lights turning off/on, scheduled interviews interrogations, shower, etc)
- going over training exercises and routines to keep themselves occupied, even if only in their head so as not to waste strength
- obsessing over everything that led up to their capture, imagining all the ways they could (or couldnât) have prevented it
- counting. Seconds passed, tiles, cracks in the walls, corners, windows, people, days spent inside, meals, breaths

Authoritative Whumper faves:
âListen to me. Look at me.â (Especially if they then force either of these.)
âWatch your languageâ
âItâs in your best interest to obeyâ
âBe quietâ
âYou will not talk to me that wayâ
âI can make it worse for you if you resistâ
âWe can do this all dayâ
âScreaming wonât change anythingâ
âStay still and take itâ
âYour compliance will make what happens next much easierâ
âDo exactly what I fucking sayâ
âDonât make this harder for yourselfâ
the sweet spot between a whumpee being drugged into unconsciousness and being fully aware is so good. like they're aware of what's happening to them but can do nothing to stop what's happening to them because of the drugs. they're not really processing it like a clear-headed person would. they're not putting meaning to sensation, its just sensation and raw fear. drugs take away both their physical and mental defenses.
Whumpees who associate being sedated/drugged with being violated. They need something done like a procedure or minor surgery, and insist on no sedation. Whumpee simply cannot tolerate not knowing what happens to them while theyâre out. Sure, being awake for it will be horrible, but trusting someone else with their body is not an option.
âMost people find this extremely uncomfortable, are you sure you donât want anything?â
âIâm sure.â
âWe can give you something just to take the edge offââ
âNo.â
âAlright. If you change your mind, just let us know.â
âThanks, I wonât.â
