For a designer, understanding the space, with which they are working, is the most important. After creating the 3D paper model of the part of the Salford Museum and Art Gallery, the next step is sorting out the layout. The photo above shows my attempt to allocate the different facilities, which I want to be present in my design proposal. My peers and I used coloured paper and glue (simple but very efficient) to designate the different areas. This is only my first try which means it will definitely change a lot.
As it can be noticed, I cut, glued and inscribed everything really carefully so it looks tidy (ah, my OCD again!) As well as the notes on the plan, I wrote a legend with what all the colours mean. However, I made the mistake to glue them way too early. I should have put more thought into it and moved the pieces around until I am the happiest with the outcome. This plan speaks for itself so need to elaborate.
As it is a bit of a waste of materials, I plan to create my next concept layouts digitally. It is just so easy and fun to draw over something and then delete it and draw again endlessly! It really feels like all mistakes (sadly not those in life too) can be corrected like magic.
