i've been feelin this a lot lately! my vita died a while ago so i haven't been able to play for about a year, and i find myself really missing everyone, and i really resonate with what you said about it feeling like home. p4 really builds a family aspect more than i think p3 and p5 do, especially between the og IT. i love p4 because it really builds off of different kinds of personalities and yet manages to make everything feel natural and just. real? (hope that wasn't like. intruding on your post i just wanted to put in my two cents akskfhsjak)
oh yeah no don’t worry!! i haven’t touched my vita in what feels like years so (i think it’s been a year... i haven’t charged it in a while.) i relate completely. i did kind of go more in-depth about what p4 means to me in this long-winded ask i sent to a friend 3 years ago:
“I think the main reason why P4’s stuck with me so long, and why I might even love it even more passionately than when I first got into it (usually the most fervent obsessive time for me) is how real the characters are. Each of them grows, maybe to different extents, but they aren’t static. Each of them faces difficulties, insecurities, obstacles, trials, tribulations, but they’re able to overcome them and most importantly accept the not-so-great aspects of themselves. It doesn’t just stop there, either—even after obtaining their Personas they aren’t perfect. They’re far from it. Getting a Persona is only the beginning.
They continue growing and learning as individuals as the game goes on, and even past the end of the game. Each character is so fleshed out and lovable, their faults, idiosyncrasies, and good points. No one is flat or one-dimensional, everyone is complex and has valid reasons for their behavior. Playing the game is practically like watching your children grow up, and at the end, you’re so, so proud of them. “
i love persona 3 and 5 for their own strong points but there’s nothing that can quite beat how much p4′s characters affected me
