Reading Caine fics to cope and it brought up something I never considered. Caine no doubt has issues with understanding consent and boundaries because he probably wasn't given the privilege of consent and boundaries.
He was probably only seen as a computer program to be frequently edited and changed to better fit someone else's wants. Manually having his code altered and being manipulated without his say. And being an AI, he probably saw that as normal.
I wonder how much he would have been aware of his own code being modified
