A few days ago a friend of mine and I decided to be more productive from now on because the exam period starts soon. So we came up with the idea [so it’s christmas in a couple of weeks and the advent calendar season begins] of a study advent calendar. We wrote and folded 24 cards, on each a different lecture topic and we have to pick one every day and review the picked topic for at least 30 minutes. Lectures can be an extremely boring affair when it doesn't lie in the purview of our area of interest. Every student can understand the pain of sailing through a boring lecture. Constant yawning and murmuring forms the basis of an uninteresting lecture. In this article let us try to find out how a student can sail his boat through a boring lecture without really killing his precious time.

Lectures can sometimes be really boring and it gets really difficult for a student to maintain his concentration throughout the session especially when the topic of lecture doesn't form his area of interest. This situation is something really common in any student's life. And almost each one of us has encountered number of such instances wherein we felt the same. Hence, this article is going to suggest you steps to overcome such situation

· Try to stay involved in class

 Trying to stay involved in the class helps you in dealing with such situation. When a student put a bit of extra efforts like taking notes or trying to understand what the teacher is trying to convey will definitely lead to form his interest even in the boring class. But if that student continues to stay the same way and continue yawning, then this feeling of boredom would only multiply rather than getting any better.

· Always try to pre-read about the next topic

This is a step ahead of any boring class and as a precautionary step so as to avoid that. When a student pre-reads what is going to be discussed in the next class, he tends to find himself involved in the class discussion. He tends to be more alert and his level of concentration automatically enhances. Thus, this forms the basis of not finding a lecture boring. I remember, during my last lecture on effective essay writing, when I pre-read the topic, my level of interest immediately multiplied.

· Go and sit in the front row

When a student sits in the front row, under constant scrutiny of the teacher his, sleeping sensation automatically vanishes. This fear not only helps in getting rid of sleeping sensation but also allows us to maintain our concentration throughout the lecture. Sitting in the first row may seem a bit awkward to you especially when you are not someone who often sit there, but never underestimate the power of constant scrutiny. It keeps you in check. Trust me when I say that. Been there, done that. 

· Get enough sleep well in advance

This boredom and constant yawning could be an outcome of inadequate sleep that you had the previous night. Inefficient sleep has the power of making even an interesting lecture boring. Then, in your case, this could be an outcome of inefficient or inadequate sleep in real. Always try to have a proper sleeping session of 8 hours each night. Sleeping has an unsaid and incomparable power that should never be taken for granted. Respect that.
