I was expecting Mitsuhide to pull a switcheroo like "I could read your mind too this whole time" but refreshingly he's completely in the dark until MC explains!

Mai is looking for things to do as a newly appointed chatelaine. The others tend to give her random jobs if she asks, but she wants to help more.

Mitsuhide catches her eavesdropping on some vassals, and after she refuses to return to her room, he offers to test her abilities. He'll put in a good word for her to Nobunaga... in return for being his assistant for the day.

Feeling like she's about to make a deal with the devil, she nonetheless agrees

From using inkstones for writing, to delivering packages, to caring for horses... Mitsuhide spends as much time teaching her as she does assisting him. Afterward, Mai overhears the same chatty vassals from earlier. This time they bring up rumors that Mitsuhide is a traitor. It worries her so much that she lingers around the stables until Mitsuhide returns.

In a rush to act normal, she accidentally spooks his horse trying to take it back to the stable. She apologizes, and he assures her that there's no need as it was an accident.

She catches a letter that fell out of his sleeve. When confronted, he explains that he was looking for proof of another daimyo's treachery. He gives her permission to read it, and it is indeed a daimyo's call to action to rise against Nobunaga.

Mai feels guilty for doubting him, and he requests something to make up for it - a kiss
