When this fan anthology announced that they were looking for submissions, @ghostconch and I jumped at the chance to collaborate.
@ghostconch wrote a really lovely story that gives me goosebumps, and I responded to it with an illustration that is one of the fastest pieces to ever pour out of me.

Because I’m a sap who likes to look back at my year every January 1st, here’s a few of the highlights of my year. Under a cut because damn this got kind of long.
Last year’s resolutions!
I said I wouldn’t use social media to check up on toxic people I’ve cut out of my life, and besides one slip-up in June, I’ve pretty much kept that promise to myself.Â
I’ve reduced my meat consumption to one day a week (temporarily on hold during the holidays, but back on as of today).
I started running more frequently, which the dog and I both enjoy a lot
I did not get Grave Whisperer to a state where it’s acceptable for human consumption by the end of the year, mostly because a new story idea, which I’m tentatively calling The Black Sheep Family decided to kick in my door and take over my life
Collaboreighteen
Together with a wonderful stranger from Canada, I started a fundraiser for RAICES, and raised over $400. It’s not the biggest amount, but it’s way more than I could have donated myself
I decided to be the body-positive fitness community I want to see in the world, and opened a Discord for friendly competition on steps towards better mental and physical health.Â
I joined the board of directors of what will hopefully be the world’s first queer childrens’ bookstore! This month we’re going to be applying for non-profit status and then we’re going to start fundraising.
General life updates
I made an honest effort to keep in touch with friends from my old job and other parts of my life.
After last year’s unemployment debacle, I found a new job in February, and I’ve been really happy there! It’s amazing what a non-toxic work environment will do for the rest of your life.Â
As mentioned above, a new story has taken over my life and is trying to kill me. Don’t send help.Â
Resolutions, plans, and hopes
I want to at least finish Part 2 of The Black Sheep Family, and hopefully get most of the way through Part 3.
Rolling over my goal of making Grave Whisperer readable by the end of this year. Eventually I’ll finish something that’s at least good enough for close friends and family to read.Â
Maybe think about asking my boss for a raise, because I’ve done awesome work and I deserve it.Â
Continue running and doing yoga, and maybe start doing some strength training.Â
Work on the bookstore and get close to having a space by the end of the year!Â
Not a bad start. Not a good start, but not a bad one. That font has got to get sorted out though. And evidently it's being called 'Collabor18' online??
