I think what some people get wrong about "sad beige" or "cold white everything" is that some people get sensory overload from too much visual data.
With my ADHD, I have a very visually organized mind. I love color, but I need my color to be consistent and thought out so that I don't mentally exhaust myself in my living space.
Like, it's fine and normal for someone to want surroundings and clothing that accommodates their neurological needs. Sad beige and cold white, although not quirky or alt, fill a role for people who need a low amount of environmental clutter to operate.
