Stonewalling There are many different types of stonewalling, most (and perhaps all) of which can occur in interpersonal relationships of any kind. All of them are inherently narcissistic. The silent treatment is just one type of stonewalling. Alternatively, someone who is narcissistically motivated might stonewall in the process of actually appearing to engage in a conversation. When a person has adopted a narcissistic attitude to a conversation, regardless of whether that person is being overtly abusive and vicious (i.e. openly displaying narcissistic rage), many of that person's crazy-making tactics of deflection and obfuscation can be aptly described as stonewalling.
