So the 80s found me without my best friend at the time, finally facing the fact that I wasn't happy with myself, reading the letters she wrote, and wondering why on earth I couldn't have found some way to tell her something... something... I didn't know... Because the truth was I loved her in a purely platonic way. I had hung around with her for four years, with no sexual feelings for her at all... and the term "demisexual" hadn't even been conceived then, and there was no "enby" and all the terms under that umbrella. This was the song I sang along to at the top of my lungs.
Cold Chisel had broken up, and Jimmy Barnes had already released his first album "Bodyswerve", and then came "For The Working Class Man", and "I'd Die To Be With You Tonight" and yes, that is Kim Carnes on backing vocals.
GnR recorded a great live version of ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door’, but these Aussie rock legends did it first.. and better?!
