A Beer League of Our Own
I used to play softball when I was younger in school, girls softball. I played the positions of Rover and Short Stop. It was fun, and where my love of playing started. I still have my Coopers glove. My mom had written my name on the label after she first bought it when I was in Grade 5. My name is now faded, but the glove is perfectly soft and worn in. I still play softball in the summer, as apart of a co-ed softball league where a group of companies in the area play each other. It's an adult beer league, some teams are more focused on the beer while others are more focused on the softball. In this league, as an adult, I play Second Base, Rover and sometimes Back Catcher. It's still so fun.
Every season I meet new people, and make stronger friendships with the regular players. The comaraderie of being on a team can be intense sometimes. I becomes We. Your mentality of "I played well" changes to "We played well". And We win as a team and We lose as a team. We encourage each other, and we learn from each other. Beer or no beer, being on a team and having others help you, teach you and be there for you, is kinda great.
