Fakeob is a certified peepee boy.
Oof. So with a lot of jobs permanently going remote, I MIGHT be able to head back into programming/web design. I attempted to go freelance a decade or so ago but it turns out I am veryvery bad at getting folks to pay me. Even with a contract. Even with a deposit. Even with close friends vouching for them. Even when I am a third of my way there on the highway coming in from three states over. So whatever, I am clearly not a freelancer. I have some awesome PTSD around offices and supervisors, but remote might be okay? Now I need to dust off my skills, get the motor running, and figure out how the industry works on the employment side of things.
Not too worried about the old skills - turns out code monkeying is still my idea of a good time.
Social skills are a worry, though. The professional kind.
And a little concerned about my social media since I use the same handle across all social media ever (except where some asshat beats me to it). I just gonna put faith in employers not hunting me down on Tumblr.

NAME: Code Monkey
PALETTE: Computer Illiteracy/Tumblr Flag (Joke Flag)
MONSTER: WHY on EARTH would you leave a LITERAL MONKEY in change of your website??? Why??? He's never even had a comp sci class! He barely knows how to code! The only reason your website runs if because he knows how to use YouTube to find tutorials! This is too much responsibility for him! Look at him! You gave a perfectly good monkey anxiety!!

Since Tuesday of LAST WEEK (9/17), Comcast has been blaming my brand new router for the internet outage. As opposed to their lines being Comcastic. When the first tech came out and said, “Your router is going bad. If this was one of ours I’d replace it right now.” I was like, “I have a backup upstairs. Want me to get it? We can swap it right now.” And then he ignored me and was trying to push me towards one of those fucking gateway/combo routermodems. Cue me being highly suspish.
I’ve run a zillion tests, all of which have said the problem is somewhere between the inside coax port and the utility pole.
Well they finally sent someone out to check the wiring and guess what? Yeah. YEAH. Not my bloody modem, was it, Comcast?
TL;DR -- the first thing they are AWAYS gonna tell you is that it’s YOUR equipment. Do yerself a favor and go [HERE] and try those steps first. Note that on Linux systems, tracert is traceroute. In my own test before things were fixed:
ping 8.8.8.8 yielded: 16 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
ping google.com just hung indefinitely
traceroute google.com yielded: traceroute: unknown host google.com
